Quotes

This is so messed up. I did some quotes recently on the net for a 92 Civic DX hatchback, and they were coming up to 369 a month. Something along those odds. I was hoping to get quotes around 264, is this even possible? I dont think i can afford that insurance if i were to get. And for sure a CRX would have higher insurance then that right? What company would dish out the lostest price. I'm trying to get quotes because im deciding on a car for April. It is all down to insurance, but want to be able to pay the insurance.

Are u a g2 driver, how old are u?, any prior tickets, are u in a high claim area..............if so, that quote is just about dead on. . .and should be if u are a G2 driver under 25 and blah blah....

but u can for sure easily get a lower rate. . . shop around and u shall find, further research will uncover a lot

16 yo w/G2... thats why man...kids get their clocks cleaned by the insurance company...do yourself a favour and drive a truck until you're 21 or so if you want cheap insurance...I'm 24 with a spotless record and it still costs me like $250/mth full coverage on my 97 CX...and I had drivers ed cert. and the reduction was barely anything...once you get into modified stuff its out of this world when you're young...I got a ranger and suffered through that for 4 years and saved my cash...insurance was only $1400/year on that when I was 17

I saw a Jeep TJ '97 going for 5,600. Insurance was $100 more than the civic hatchback.

Someone actually once told me that they quote you high yet they give you a lower rate. He said he was quoted 5200 and pays 1950.

ya man get a truck, i used to have an chevy s10 and insurance on that was 1200/year, that was nice and now i got the civic and it doubled, but i am older than you, but still, i asked my broker why trucks were cheaper and he said cause they are classified as being safer vehicles.

and s10 are sweet rides after you do them up a bit, slammed right to the ground...ahh i love it....i will have one again someday

What about something more sportier, like a Jeep TJ? Those were still extremely expensive for insruance...

But what about what i heard, they quote you higher, like someone said they were quoted for 5200 and got 1950. Also i dont think i can afford 370 a month.

if you cant afford it, you cant afford it..

look into how much basic liability will cost you, it will probably be 100 dollars cheaper, there are serious downsides to that

your quote of almost 400 being 16 with a g2 sounds very reasonable. keep in mind the insurance company sees you as a childish punk with no sense of responsibility who thinks he has an imported sports car.. they will have to pay thousands of dollars for a few seconds of your potential stupidity if you casue an accident.. so they will charge you accordingly.

You all say it is accurate... I understand... So the person that told me that you get quoted higher and get a lower rate was full of ****?

Others say trucks are safer vehicles and the rates are cheaper, would that apply for a TJ or no?

Just im really confused... Someone told me that my rate will be lower then the quote, so now im really confused.

sometimes the rates are lower than the quotes, sometimes higher..

it all depends on the circumstances, a quote is just a general guideline.

think of it this way: insurance is just spreading the risk. how much of a risk you are depends on many factors, and insurance companies consider all those factors. you are different from everybody else and you will affect their rate formula differently, so your best bet is to go to their office and talk to their broker.

think of it this way: a TJ is not a regular pickup truck. people who want attention and want something different drive them, and they are quite rare for parts and not that safe in accidents. the general assumption by the insurance company is that this vehicle is likely to be in an accident due to the driver that might be driving it, and it wont be that cheap to fix due to lack of parts. that means the rate will be high to cover the risk they are taking by insuring you.

think of an 1995 chevy s10. you wont have one unless you sort of need it for work or just to drive around. you wont show off in it becuase if you wanted to show off, you wouldnt drive a 95 s10. therefore the assumption is that you will just use it for work or to get around. an s10 is a mass production vehicle and there are parts everywhere and they are cheap. that would mean the risk of them paying out big bucks in the event of an accident is low, so lower rates.

^^ Very true.. SO let me get this then... a civic would be high because you want to be seen in it? But yet as a lot of parts,.

Sadly the truck came to 4219

Insane.... 360 a month for me for a CRX... Cheapest i could find, a '92 Civic was more than that. THat rate to be honest isnt bad, and if i put the car under my parents... Cheaper rate for me. I'm so happy.
