Project SHAVE

Project S.H.A.V.E. (Stop Harassing All Vehicle Enthusiasts)

I'm sick of cops harassing us because we drive nice cars/trucks.. Pulling us over because the stereotype "we are all street racers" (some are some aren't) and we are out to no good. "giving us ticket after ticket.. because It's not bad enough that we pay high insurance for are cars. and we gotta deal with this other ****.

You can't stereotype everyone. Hey people with nice cars like to get together and talk about cars. Big Fuken deal. As for the streetracer caught them in the act. You never hear of people dying at the streetraces.

You here about stupid people crashing because they think that their stock pieces of **** are fast and do selfpasses on major interesions. Trying to show of.. you cant blame car enthusiasts for that stuff.. , But the COPS, MEDIA do.

They tell us take the racing it to the track.. And on the way you have OPP and MTO pulling over all cars do a 200 point inspection handing out tickets.

PACER is bull. they pull you over before to get their too. So what can we do?

Why don't they pull over old cars that are rusted to ****. That could pass emission running their stock computers. That don't have anything working properly in the cars.. "****ty Brakes, always stalls, cant hit 100KM on the HighWay"

Cops should understand... Alot of us respect and apreciate our toys. So STOP Harassing US.

I want to do something about this.. We as a group of Vehicle Enthusiasts should find out a way to implement project SHAVE.

So what do you think we should do?

We should make S.H.A.V.E. Stickers and rock em full time, and form an organized group made up of professionals in the field of law who are also enthusiasts and those who get pulled over, we get those lawyers to do some pro bono work. . . and defend us, and nail the cops for every little thing they did wrong during the stop. as part of Project S.H.A.V.E. the car in question at the time of the traffic stop should record every little detail.

i'm with you bro ... but i think we will always have to deal with that BS cuz it generates money .... more tickets = more money
and essentially more money = more cops to give more tickets ...

i hear exactly what your sayin ....

hahahaha...this is rediculous, whatever harassment that goes on I dont see...unless cops harass middle aged family car drivers cuz thats all I ever see pulled over. I saw 4 cars pulled over yesterday and what were they? Family cars (mid size import/domestics) driven by middle aged people. I havent seen a "done up" car pulled over for a while now and the last time I seen that its because the owner was speeding out of the parkin lot trying to show off like a loser.

Until the day I see this harassment I dont believe it for a second, the police are doing their job (patrolling the streets).

And as far as cops giving out tickets to people leaving the track or whatever, thats fine and to be quite honest they should do that. People just think cuz u raced at the track u should be immune to all the other saftey, environmental and other laws that are out there. People defeat emmissions systems (bypass crankcase ventilation etc) and thats against the law and if you are one of these people that do that then u deserve to be hit with a fine. Remember, PACER is there to inform you how to LEGALLY modify your car for performance and apperance they arent there to bail you out of tickets and stuff like that. If its illegal, its illegal bottom line and if u have nothing to hide from the police then I dont see what the big deal is about.

People continue to go out and buy rediculously loud exhausts, use blue headlights (and various other lights), defeat emmissions devices, lower their car to unacceptable levels, drive around on super bald camber worn tires etc. The police are there to stop you and check for these things and if u dont pass u get a ticket or your plates removed. if people would be smart about how they do things they wouldnt be whining all the damn time about this topic. I've been driving versions of modified cars for 5years now and have never ever been harassed by the police and every of the 4 tickets I have ever recieved I deserved (no front plate, speeding, no license present and defeation of emmissions system)

here is my new program S.W.A.P. Stop Whining About The Police

CyniKal.Mindset you must be studing to become a cop .. You live in oakville. i guess. Because if your car is done and you like to cruise in T.O you would see the harassment.

Friday night.. Just cruising with my chick.. STCLAIR CALEDONIA area in my yellow crx. with Carbon Fibre Hood. The cop intension pull a UTurn to pull me over..

I got three ticket..

1.Improper Muffler. 110.00 cruising at 40KM with a bus in front of me
2.Driving with an unsafe Load 280.00(am i towing a boat with my REX)
3.Improper Permit. 110.00 (my ownership must state Modified) when I put my 1.8 i went to MTO to change the ownership and they said they could only change if from a 4cyl to a 6cyl.

Another thing I'm not a kid.
You tell me that this is right.. Because if you think it is.. you got issues.

So I told the cop we have a date.. See the people who back up the cops r from little town out side of TO..

Take a cruise to Toronto with you modified ride.. And tell me how you feel after the cop take you plate because your seatbelt harnesses are not DOT approved or because your tires are less that 50%. or recieve a ticket because your hood isn't the same colour as the rest of the car, or your gauge instrument are distracting your view, CAI is against emmisson should I go on. Does any of this make sense to you.

Is ur muffler loud.........ur towing something...it'z using some torque ? ur muffler probably souned soo loud.

fact, Red, Yellow any non norm colored car is gonna get pulled over more often then regular standard colors.

ppl who get tickets are soo bitter.....and i'm not saying ur bitter ezyride, cause it'z true, when i got my first ticket i was fuming mad...cops don't give u a chance to tell ur story, nor do they justify anything, they have a job to do, so they do it, w/e....if u know u can get off and u know what u have is legit, go tell it to the judge, the cop is not gonna stick around and listen to u. every minute he does that, he'z in danger.

Don't get mad at the cops that enforce laws they never made is the bottom line. They are just out there like u and me trying to get by in life.

you're my hero..

I agree with everything you said there well written..

I do think that if a program encourages kids to take it to the track like PACER was doing then that program should also inform the kids to take legal cars to the track and that cops will be monitoring the streets around the track. I get reminded every autoslalom I attend that the police have been informed on the event. yes if I wanted to I coudl change my emissions control devices for a bit more power (it's against stock rules but allowed in other classes) however if I was to do that I'd switch back before entering public roads... Hell I've seen guys do full suspension swaps at autoslaloms and they don't get harassed why? because they are at an acceptable ride hieght when they leave the track... and the tires thing don't get my started about how those are the only thing keeping you connected to the ground...

I'm joining S.W.A.P. !!! first program I can truly endorse..

how's about A.S.S.W.I.P.E. Asswipes Screaming and Shouting Will Incurre Police Enforcement

ok and another thing I'm from Scarborough I work in Etobicoke I drive across the city at various times during the day and night to get too and from work...

and I always drive in this car:

my car is super visable easily to spot ... actually a guy from work told me he saw me in his area yesterday ...

and I never get bothered by police... today coming home I was on a side street near my house and an unmarked police officer just waved at me....I politely waved back as I passed him going in the opposite direction. did I get pulled over nope.... I see coips all the time on the road ... in places that are easy for them to turn around and come after me. do they no... why? because there is no secert Harass all car hobbyists conspricy

the Police officer probably saw the load you were towing thought it was unsafe then decided to nail you on the rest.... how much did the load you were towing weigh?

a D.O.T. rating means it meets the AMERICAN Department of Transportions rating the only ratings that really carry over to us are the tire ratings....

Does any of this make sense to you.

It makes perfect sense to me. Here;s how I see it....

If your muffler is improper, it is improper regardless of how fast you were travelling when pulled over.

If your battery is not properly secured, that is an equipment violation.

If you have failed to notify the Ministry of any material changes to your vehicle, you are eligible to get a ticket.

If your seatbelt harnesses are not to proper and recognized specification, you have rendered your car unsafe according to Transport canada regulations.

If your tires are bald or worn excessively unevenly because of your driving style or poorly-done vehicle mods, then you are perfectly eligible for a ticket.

If your guage cluster is so ridiculously large and poorly positioned that it interferes with the driver's vision ahead, particularly when compounded by the gangster slouch or lean, then yes, you've just earned another ticket.

If you've defeated or failed to properly maintain your emissions equipment on your car, then why shouldn't you be ticketed for potentially poisoning the air that the rest of us have to breathe?

Do you see the similarity between all of these? They are all wthin your control. All you need to do is ensure that your car is in compliance with vehicle standards laws.

Or you can continue to shoot yourself in the foot by living in denial or defiance.... but if you do, then you deserve each and every ticket you get until you do bring your car into compliance. And I expect the cops to uphold the law, even if it does inconvenience you.

Bull**** tickets? You must mean tickets for violations that you don't agree as being violations. But you don't get to write your own HTA or vehicle standards laws. You have to live by the same laws that the rest of us are subject to.

The law on license plate covers is quite clear. Go look it up in the HTA.

If your exhaust is too loud, then get a more socially acceptable muffler.

Blue lights? See HTA.

Simple enough, right?

sure... but then whats the point in modifying ur car... if u have to stay the same as everybody elses.... u cant do this cant do that.... if i was a white mom with 2 kids in the backseat driving a minivan with the blue cover on my licence plate or wit blueish headlights or even a loud muffler i doubt i would be pulled over let alone ticketed...
