Mine have a slight smoke to them but you can still see the plates clearly. Never been written a ticket or even asked about them and I have been pulled over more then enough times. Definetly a nit pik item like having to dark a tint.

YES!!!

I have seen cars in the middle of winter with salt and other crap on the rear plate cover, and I have to admit that I could not read the plate at all. At least w/o a cover you can read the numbers b/c they are sticking out.

same thing can be said though for when the plates themselves get super dirty, then you can't read the plate either...

i'm talking about when the cover is clean

that article is misleading.
if you walk into the ministry it states even the clear ones that they sold or sell at the ministry are illegal.
either way, if you buy something from the gov't and then they start handing out tickets for it... you should not only be given an apology, but also be completely reimbursed.

maybe the ministry should be fined as well.

I'm putting slightly tinted ones on out of spite.

If I get pulled over I'll ask them how having a clearly visible plate that is protected from rust is any worse than a horribly rusted illegible piece of chet that isnt protected.

and then when the cop hands you a ticket for $110 for being a smart *** with illegal plate covers, you get to take a day off work to go to court for it..

Heck I don't mind its only a 10min drive down the street Yeah but in all honesty Its not worth the trouble man. And I am pretty sure in the article that it said that clear ones are legal! so that includes the clear ones you get from the gov't

LOL
those covers won't stop it from rusting, if anything it will trap moisture in and will make them rust quicker....

they are just for looks...

go tell that to the ministry of transportation office on keele and hwy 7 alex

a disclaimer makes them bullet proof from them getting in trouble.

just cuz someone has a disclaimer on something doesn't mean it's illegal... those are two different issues...
