Insurance Rates

Ok, I'm a 21 almost 22 yr. old with G license. I've got a '92 civic Si hatch and had a clean record for the 3 years I've been driving it (and also before when I was on parent's vehicles). My rates have been consistently increasing since inception but this year's renewal papers came this week and my rates shot up 20% for NO reason. I now pay $232/mo for the most basic coverage (min. liability and $1000 deductable), which I think is a HORRIBLE rate.

I am just wondering what rates other people are paying in a similar situation and what company they are with/suggest.

Thanks

haha...i consider my rate HIGH but i think my rate is normal for my situation.. however, my rate compare to yours, yours is nothing! i pay 3600/yr (300/mth) (3rd party liability and myself as principle driver). well, let see... i'm 22 with G2 license for 1.5 years (gonna do G in april), i have a major clean record of course, completed all those boring classes.... however, for 3rd party liability, i consider 300/mth HIGH INSURANCE... so i'm not sure if you pay 232/mth is HIGH or not because you have a G and longer exp. However 232/mth for a full coverage (even if you have 1000 deductible), i still say 232 is pretty much cheap for a civic! Also, for your situation where insurance keeps going up while your record is clean and your exp. is increasing... i don't see how that makes sense unless the risk rates for civics are going up (but i don't recall hearing 92-95 hatches involve in major accidents)! so, you should talk to your broker and start to shop around for other insurance companies.... there are major insurance companies that charges higher but they are respectable companies, i've seen some insurance company that offers cheap insurance rate because they take risks or they can be scammers (in which they find ways not to pay you or run away....) So, just becareful when you shop around... i recall Team Rukus (maybe him or not) or someone had a thread about finding you the most competitive insurance... you should do a "search"... give a call and see what that person or broker can do for you! i hope this helps!

i don't hate you, lordm....
you gotta feed kids, more than insurance! HAHA!!!!!

cee_mon... i'm using certas direct insurance too... what are you referring to as BOTTOM COVERAGE??? coz i'm using 3rd party liability... and they quote me 3600 for a year..... maybe coz i'm strictly G2 for just 1.5-2 years... however, my insurance paper states this "Civic HB Si/SiR" <--- maybe the "Si/SiR" is killing me??? however, i told them its a SI, not SIR, and they said, its the same coz they don't have it listed separately with a different quote... well i had no choice, so i bought the insurance coz i need to drive...

That's insurance that covers you if you are held financially liable for harm or injury that you caused to another person or their property.

You must have it to drive in Ontario and most other places too.

When I first got my car at the end of the summer they tried to charge me 9K a year. Then with some freaking out and changing my adress i got it down to 4500$ a year and when I turn 19 it goes down to 2300$ a year assuming I keep a clean record which of course I will And they also promised a drop when I get my full G licence.

Honda 2-door coupes are in the top five of most-frequently-stolen vehicles. The only ones ahead of them are Cadillac Escalade, Ford Superduty pickups, and at the top of the list, the Subarau Impreza WRX.

The Honda coupes also experience much heavier frequency and magnitude of accident benefit payouts. In other words, the car is a relative death trap compared to many other vehicles. The resulting cost of accident benefits (loss of income, therapy, medical care short and long term, death benefits) can be many times the payout cost to simply replace or repair a crashed Honda, and that has the biggest effect on what you're going to pay for insurance.

Im thinking of switching to a 4 door lx or something to save on insurance, depending on how much I actually do save.

i think insurance rates also depends on where you live... i know a friend who lives in georgetown... he drives a 93 hatch and he's only paying somewhere in the low hundred (100-150) a month with full coverage (dun remember his deductible)...

Yes, that is true because drivers in suburb areas are less aggressive and tend to drive less often the us city folk...lol
