Insurance on Highly Modified Vehicles

I'm lookin' for an insurance company for my SiR... as some of you know, it's quite heavily modified... I was paying $3000/year with Meloche Monnex, but they found out my car was in the auto show, and they don't insure modifed vehicles PERIOD .... I'm turning 25 in March, and would hope that would help my rate tons, but just finding an insurance company right now is another thing.. links and or numbers to potential companies or some brokers you've dealt with would be greatly appreciated...

if you dont mind me asking, how did they find out...a broker from meloche monnex went to a show or something?

what about that insurance thing that was going around a few months ago, that said they accepted moded cars but they need 5000 people or something like that to get the process going?

long story on how they found out, but regardless.. maybe it was a "blessing in disguise" ... cuz I mean IF I got in a accident or something with my civic I could've been royally foooked... since they were insuring my vehicle as stock, they could "blame" my mods to have caused the accident etc.. etc...

I'm just wondering if anyone on here has their civic insured, and their insurance company KNOWS about it..

Yup, they know of my swap, suspension work, everything.

All depends who your company is, if your statefarm, better lube up.

are you with statefarm? ... if not which company and they know absolutely EVERY mod you have like the exact value etc...? being that I pay $3000/year for a STOCK SiR ... I can only see my rate sky rocketing to like $5000+ with what I've done to my car... and I got a clean record.....

Meloche Monex knows about my buddies GSR which is heavily modified he's putting about 250hp to the ground and all the asked for was the list of mods he is 26 and pays 60 bucks a month. Try dealing with someone else at the company.

are you kidding me? well who would I deal with?.. cuz it's up to the underwriter's to decide right?... and the guy that "apraised" my car specifically told me that MM doesn't insure modded vehicles... and since I've been dropped, it's gonna show on my record... pm me your friends broker's # or something if you could... thanks

He always deals with them from the phone number on the internet we all got insurance through them when we graduated from college. He says he never deals with the same person but the girl he talked to yesterday sounds hot.

for my own protection? so Allstate WILL insure modify cars, but just charge you an arm and a leg for it? because the "prettier" your car looks the higher the risk it has to be stolen, or the more attractive it is to theives (as my old broker told me) ... as well with the stupid "performance" mods ... that have not been tested with the car..

the phone # from the internet?... so there's no specific broker then?.. I was told SPECIFICALLY by the Underwriting Manager that MM does not insure modify cars... I don't see how a policy would change from one client to another as far as modifying goes...

they have absolutely no idea about your mods I'm assuming though right? I'm still waiting on rbjeepthing... cuz he says himself and his friend are insured under MM with modified cars... right now it's not about even finding a good deal.. it's finding an insurance company PERIOD...

I talked with statefarm about this. The broker i talked to was a friend of mine and revealed alittle truth and lie about this. He said if you are insured under a stock car, but you have mods. If you get into an accident or something happens, he said that your company HAS to pay for the cost of the STOCK car itself. They do not have to pay for the mods on the car, but some company may cover this aswell.
He said that it is against the law to with hold the money from the person as they have been paying for the insurance on the STOCK car.

does this vary from company to company though?.. you're saying it's the LAW right? I just need to know 100%, cuz otherwise I'd just insure "as stock" ... so you're saying that IF I get into an accident whether it's my fault or not, the insurance company cannot blame my mods (whatever it might be), for causing the accident, and thus not insuring anything at all?
