no offense to state farm lol but try out kanetix.ca after you fill in your info out you get some good quotes and the good thing about that site is that you can adjust the variables and see what you would need to do to get the highest discount.

after filling it out youll see that state farm is a rip off lol go for Aviva, Belair, or Desjardins for insurance theyre the cheapest i found

i just got my g2 and im 18 and alone id pay 400 but under parents i pay 300 (mom only has her g2 so ya) i took the driving course i have 4 winter tires on and 2 alarms and i park in a private garage and i have a CAA member ship and drive less than 10000 km

^all those things above dropped my insurance^

but honestly your 17 and i ASSUME you DONT have a job that can pay 200-400 a month but you also have to count in gas (i pay 100 a month) and money that you can spend on yourself

in a month your looking at 400 bucks a month unless your parents are paying for all your bills and insurance and gas i think its best to stick with good old TTC

Rip off? Ouch! that hurts... *sniffle* j/k there's a lot of variables that'll affect your premium. It really depends on the driver, drivers in the household, and the vehicle.

I've written business where we come out lower than Aviva, TD, etc... that's why it's always your best option to shop around.

and just out of curiosity, how close was your online quote to what you're ACTAULLY paying? because everyone's is going to be off.

Online quotes are based on an average, and in my experience there's usually something we can do to make your premium less than the online quote.

yeah, I'll agree sometimes state farm is kinda expensive but you pay for what you get

going with Belair for example might give you cheaper monthly payments, but when it comes to service you can't really go shake hands with your agent.

ermmm... HAHA that adds to my point on why you pay for what you get for. state farm as the best claims service... don't get me wrong I'm sure all other insurance companies have their benefits. I only know what I know about state farm because I work for them. I was with TD, but found every time I called them to ask them a question they were never able to help me and then they quoted me $500+/month for my rsx and I laughed and said forget it. When the hail storm came, my mom waited 2 months to get reimbursed for the rental she had while her car was being fixed.

I just find that crap service, to pay hundreds of dollars a year to recieve such crap service and to have them in control of what will happen shall I get into an accident or my house burns down really makes me think. I would prefer to pay more to know I have the security that I can personally talk to my agent and know everything will be taken care of.

Mind you if you can't afford the better service then go with what you can afford. Not that I pay more for my insurance... state farm actually quoted me the best amount, which is why I went with them

Down with state farm. After an At fault collision they tried to triple my insurance, so then i canceled the insurance and pulled the car off the road. Then, they went after my parents, because they had ASSUMED that i would be driving their cars. In the end, they lost myself, my parents and my brother. That was when i was in my teens.

If you were in your teens, with a G2 licence, then you were probably getting a slew of discounts, Steer Clear, GS/DT, etc. etc. Once you get into an at fault accident you lose those discounts, and drop to a lower plan, that's just what happens, doesn't matter where you go.

And if someone mentions the first accident forgiveness, if you really look at your car policy that's an endorsement that you're actually paying for.

when you say "went after" do you mean that they were trying to raise their premiums?

as long as you are living in the same household you are required to be on your parents policy because there is a higher chance that you will drive their car. and if you do drive their car and you are not listed on their policy, then you may not be covered in case you get into an accident

If you went off and got your own insurance policy, then all you had to do was contact your Agent and sign a form saying that you will not drive their cars, and your accident would not have afected their premium.

State Farm had gone ahead and raised my parents premiums without consent. The way i look at it, is that if someone goes out and buys you a car or something pricey and then comes to you says "i bought this for you, now you owe me $xxxx."

If i did take my parents cars at the time, then i do believe i would have been charged with theft. Are parents/people really that stupid to let their kids drive without coverage? Especially under the age of 25? It would be my parents and my own fault letting me drive without coverage. If i took the car without consent, than i should be charged with theft.

:Welcome: to TCC btw

Ok, I don't really see how your analogy relates. Your parents' premium would have raised once their policy was up for renewal. In that sense it is their choice if they choose to renew or not.

The fact of the matter is that their premium increased due to your accident. If they signed the endorsement stating that you understand that you are not to drive their vehicle then it wouldn't have

You don't realize how many people there are who do not put their G1 or G2 children on their policies because they "aren't allowed to drive" but their kids drive their cars without telling them and then what.

And btw, unless your parents have All Perils coverage, (which they probably don't) because hardly anyone takes it, usually it's just a combo of comp and coll, even if you stole their car and they decided to charge you with theft, they still wouldn't be covered, and besides I don't know what kind of parents would press charges criminal against their children. That's why unless you specifically sign an endorsement excluding a driver that lives in the household, every licenced driver has to be on the policy, which will affect their premium.

LOL Thx!! I was just kinda bored at work and now look what I've gotten myself into!

That's facked. When i was with them i was under my own policy.

Anyways, that was my terrible experience with State Farm. Which is well in the past. Now im getting awesome rates, so there is nothing to complain about now. lol

Thanks for your 2 cents dude. You'll be a TCC Junkie soon too.

That's a decent rate for being under 25 and driving an RSX in the gta. Do you have your G?

I believe you might be able to shave off $25-50/month.
