Help Me! My insurance company dropped me for being modified!!

As of February my insurance company is dropping my coverage becasue im a risk factor... they no longer insure cars with adjusted suspension... so im gone!

I was paying $270 a month im a G2 driver with Young Drivers education 18years old perfect record full coverage.

I need to find a new company to insure me.... and with my car being the way it is.. i.e. modified.

Its not even that low..... i just raised it to allow my kit to go on... its almost the same as stock height now!

someone help.... can anyone recommend anyone or has been in this situation?

thank you!

insurance companies are bitches. so what if you modify the supsension, hell they should lower the premiums for you because the car would actually be SAFER than a stock one. total bs.

They're definition of being modified is having:

a) lowered suspension
b) engine modifications to (go faster) thats retarded
c) having air "ducts" in your body that werent there before

so anyways.... they called me a "risk" and said that I can't be insured by them anymore and on February I am getting dropped........ so I need to find a new company before they drop me because then it will show I got dropped and I will be screwed

I complained already but its no use...... and im sure as hell not going back to stock height my car will look like a monster truck with 17"s on it and not being lowered **** that

any help would be great....... who r u guys with? im G2 18yrs old perfect record Young Drivers edu.... help me lol!

what kind of car do you have? cuz 250 a month for 3rd driver seems really damn expensive, i payed 35 a month for 2nd driver on my moms brand new fully loaded accord.......

and yeah how did they know you were modded, i'm with state farm and other than being a royal ripoff i haven't had any problems with my old car or with this one..... ?

Try Pafco (Pembridge) call your broker up and ask about them or look them up there are quite a few brokers that deal with them.
I actually just had my pre-insurance pics taken with them and am hoping that they don't do the same to me but this company deals with "high risk" drivers.
**** MAN, now you got me all worried that i'll be dropped for the same reasons !!!!!

I used to be with ING as well, but once I got my renewal recently, I moved to another company as I found their rates to be pretty high. A lot of companies are now doing inspections for new customers, so if your car is modified you might have a problem. I know that TD insurance does inspections, as my mom had to take her car (02 RSX) for pictures and inspections just this past weekend. Luckily her car is bone stock and the company I am with for my EL does not require any inspection.

when you say inpsections, do you mean the normal checkpoint pre-insurance inspection ? because isn't that supposed to be just for any damage you have on your car prior to being with the new company. Or do you mean that they actually throroughly inspect everything inlcuding underneeth the hood (for mods) ?

Well, when they inspected my mom's RSX, they looked for damage as well as any modifications. They did not open the hood or check the trunk, but she did take note that the CD player was factory and asked if the car had any stereo and performance modifications. Based on the fact that her looks as stock as the day it left the factory, they probably were willing to take my word for it that everything was stock, depending on how your car looks, they might actually want to check for themselves just to be sure.

That is standard procedure they will ask.
I am sure they asked you the following

"Do you have any aftermarket stereo equipment worth over 1500 dollars?"
They do that so they can charge you a bit more on the insurance rate so they will get covered incase it gets stolen. And they also ask if it has performance mods and such on the vehilce aswell because they wanna charge for that aswell.
But all you do is when you take you car to the inspection station try to remove asmuch as possible and ifyou have coilovers raise them up.
As for people who got i/h/e which cant be removed without some trouble it doesnt matter as they arent a high risk factor when it comes to theft (maybe except for the intake but they wont go under your hood neways unless they wanna see bar code)

Insurance companies know that you're modded, because York Region Police has started phoning insurance companies of cars that they've pulled over and inspected.

Allstate is also dropping clients that have modified their cars.
