headlight out

I was driving down hiway 7 yesterday night and got pulled over for an out headlight that literally just stopped working earlier on in the day.

I had an exam and a dentist appointment that same day (which i have proof of) so i was very tight on time and getting a bulb fixed was really not a priority over my wisdom teeth and my education, although I was going to get it changed the next day.

Someone told me if i go to meet the crown with a receipt showing i fixed it the day after, it'll be thrown out.

any help?

Must have a receipt? Can you install the new bulb, take a photo of the front end with lights on (also showing licence plate) and present it in court?

I guess the receipt proofs the time, since a court date could be months after.

im just going to bring a receipt showing the purchase of headlight bulbs the day after, to court. I'll even go to CT and get them to change my bulb and write me a receipt if i must.

Simple equipment violations are usually $90 plus victim surcharge, total of $120.

For simple equipment violations, the prosecutor will often withdraw them if given proof of fix prior to trial.

This assumes that you have an otherwise clean driving record, and that the equipment violation was received all on its own and not as part of a string of tickets received for a stop initiated for other driving offfences.
