First Attendance and The Trial

First Attendance and The Trial
I had a first attendance meeting which i cancelled to schedule for the trial instead. Now my question is, would I still be able to get my ticket lowered? Would it have gotten lowered easily if i had just gone to the first attendance? Am i still going to get to negotiate with anyone RIGHT before the trial starts, even though I cancelled my first attendance meeting?

Usually the prosecutor will knock down the charges in the first attendance. They are limited to what kind of break they can give you though, usually 1 bracket down for a speeding ticket. You can still catch the prosecutor before the trial, you just walk up and ask to have it reduced. If the court isn't busy / the prosecutor doesn't feel like it, they might tell you to have a seat and wait for your trial. First attendances are great, but now you have the chance to get off completely if the cop doesn't show. Once your case gets called make sure the cop is actually in the room. If he's not then don't agree to the lowered charges. I'm not sure if the prosecutor would be sneaky enough to just push through the charges and have you agree when all you'd have to do is plead not guilty and they would just drop all charges if the cop didn't show.

You should have just reschedualed the first attendance, see what happens, then if you're not happy go to court.
I've got a meeting coming up soon. The trick is to lengthen the process out as much as possible. This gives you options, time to prepare and time to save if you've gotta pay a huge fine.
