Exhaust Ticket

I just got this up on Ridgeway in Mississauga. I wasn't speeding or giving the the car any gas. Just going the limit. I passed the cops, I saw her sitting their and a few second later she pulled me over. I didn't give her any hassle what so ever.

The ticket is for $110 and I'm going to fight it. But what do I go about doing? How do I get a court date for this? What do I tell them?

Help me guys.

It's a Magnaflow muffler by the way and it's not that loud. There's a pic of it in my sig.

^ Thanks Arron. It only gets loud when I stomp on it. When I do 50kph like I was when I got it you can barely hear it. Touch louder then stock.

Fighting it for sure

oops sorry Aaron.

I know it has to be under 85dBA and I don't think it's over that at all. I'm also going to have the shop that installed it write a small letter stating that it's legal.

It really isn't that loud unless I get on it. I have a cat and resonator in place.

they'll just think your an idiot if you do that.

have any old pics of your car with stock muffler??

if you do, just walk in, and dump the picture on the prosecutors desk......wait for them to call you name, go on the stand, state your name, and prepare yourself to walk out as you hear the prosecutor tell the judge that they would like the charge dismissed because you fixed the problem.

BTW, whats the charge for? excessive noise? or illegal muffler??

Anthony: You have no grounds to fight this ticket. You either got it for excessive noise or improper muffler. To my knowledge officers aren't required to submit Db levels. I ride with Peel as an Auxiliary and my partners always give these tickets.

All you can do is request a date to meet with a prosecutor to discuss your options. You only have two: plead guilty and take off the muffler, and the judge will most likely negate the ticket. Or plead not guilty and take fight it, thereby requesting a court date.

I think I warned you about your muffler.

he has grounds to fight if it was an improper muffler charge, but be warned G2, if you want to argue the case ( assuming its improper muffler), be prepared to be shot down by the judge, thereby, i would suggest getting a "paralegal" to help you argue the charge, and not just reduce it.

It's up to the officer's discretion, if it's too loud or not.

I've heard it, and if I were a cop, I'd certainly say that it's too loud.

Good luck, if you intend on fighting the ticket Anthony.

doesn't change a thing. You could get both in one shot if the officer really want's to nail you-- improper muffler and excesive noise--. I speak from experience!
