top 5 coilovers for ek
i am looking to upgrade my ek's suspension with coilovers but am not 100 percent positive which r the best i was lookin at buddyclub spec 2 i think but my buddy said that there not worth the price, Im lookin for a coil over with a mono tube design and fully treaded with adjustable damping as i will be tracking the car for time attack, my budget is no more than 1800, so can anyone tell me what the top coilovers r from experience thanks.

I recommend ground control springs with koni yellow adjustable dampers. I believe they make a kit for the civic. Not 100% sure. Check their website or give them a call.
You can specify what spring rates you want from ground control, which is why I like them. Most coil over kits are designed for mostly street use and aren't necessarily ideal for tracking (imo).

^Wasn't a dumb question. lol. I'm not sure, so you'd have to check with GC or koni to see if they make a kit for the civic. If they do, it most likely will have adjustable ride height collars, but that's something you'll want to confirm with them.
I don't know any local places that sells GC and koni... Check with some of the vendors in the TCC vendors section.

buddy clubs are alot! I got mine for 1450 about 2 years ago. AMAZING coilovers. It all depends on how you want the ride quality and the stance.
If you're not looking to spend alot, you can go for PICs, they sell for about 850. They are decent on track. You can also go for teins (not super streets). If you plan on tracking, i would suggest you read first on spring rates and ride in a car that has coilovers, then make your decision based on that. No matter what you get, it will be a noticeable difference than stock.
Check out manufacture's websites for models and spring rates.
I got my buddy clubs from OPTION. one of the best stores there is!

Also, many manufacturers of coil over kits allow you to choose from a few different options on spiring rates. Depending on how much tracking/street driving you do, you can go mild or wild.
If you go softer on the springs, use larger sway bars, front and rear. If you go stiffer on the springs, go with oem or no sway bar on the front and oem or larger bar on the rear (depending on the spring rate).

Thanks guys for the help its greetly appriecated . I'm researching buddyclub coils and I see 2 different kinds at option one n1 damper for 1500 and a racing spec damper for 2000 does anyone know the difference and y one is 500 more than the other ? Is it worth the 500 more is is the 1500 a good choice?

yes, type n1 is ideal for street/track. the racing is for more advanced. Since it's your first time, i would suggest you get the type n1 , with pillow mount. Then if you feel the need to upgrade, you can always sell them and get a different set or the racing spec. Btw, the type n1 is 12k front and 8k rear.

The ground control & koni setup is quite good as a dual duty setup. Sporty enough at the track, yet comfortable enough on the street. One of the best bargains I have found are the PIC coilovers. The adjustable ones are junk, but there is one model without adjustable damping that lends itself very well to uprated spring rates that work perfectly for an EK meant for track duty. 14K/10K, or there abouts. I'd have to check my notes. Anyhow, modified PIC coilovers would be my number one. Followed by Bilstein and GC at number 2. Followed by Koni and GC at number 3.
I'd skip the buddy clubs. After seeing their shock dyno's, they have WAY too much high speed damping, and not enough on the low end. Its just not a very pleasant combination, especially at that price point.

I can't say anythimg about GC's or Koni's as I never had GC's and the koni's that came on my CRX are for an OEM replacement not yellow adjustables but in my EH3 I went through a lot of different setups, Tiens are garbage. They sag after a year. I have sk2 pro s, the street version the pro c might be better for what your looking fro and are still not a bad price.
