if i did it again i would NOT cheap out and buy a proper setup
cause honestly bro, if u cheap out who knows what else can break or what can happen later on..example.. my coilovers

very likely your lower control arm bushings will be gone. you can either buy new control arms with new bushings installed [nice upgrade] or just buy the bushings. also would highly recommend getting some new bolts for the rear struts because they tend to snap, thats ofcourse if you will be doing the install yourself.

well gentlemen i have decided to do an addon to my suspension purchase..

i will be changing my front and rear control arm bushings, front and rear shock bushings, front end links, steering rack bushings, transmission shifter stabilizer bushings (manual transmission only), ball joint boots and tie rod end boots, & rear trailing arm bushing.

With
ENERGY SUSPENSION HYPER-FLEX BUSHING KIT CIVIC 92-95

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=310134788752

& ive narrowed my search down to either
P.I.C.
or
GC with Koni's..

So I'm reading all over the place that the koni sport (yellow) is the way to go. But what's up with this gc package? To be blunt, I know **** all about suspensions but that's one of the first things I'll be doing to my civic. Engine swap will be in the spring but in the summer and fall I want to do the suspension and brakes.
So the koni sport suspension is just which part
And the GC coil overs are the springs?

Please forgive me, I said I'm a total suspension noob!
How much would a complete set cost (koni sport yellows + GC coil overs + install)?

Thanks

really orthow??
u find its a better ride than the koni/gc ??
what year and make is ur car

matt491 - koni yellows are the springs, GC stands for Ground Control .. those are you coilovers which adjust ur ride height

and u cant ask a question on how much it would cost
what make is ur car?
year?
how many girls have you slept with in ur car?

all these variables take into affect on pricing

now stop thread jacking and lets get some ideas for my suspension

OptionJDM: Performance Parts & Accessories - 94-01 Integra (DC2) :: Suspension & Bracing :: Full Coilovers :: Function & Form Autolife 32 Level Adjustable Type II Full Coilover for 94-01 Acura Integra
A buddy of mine is sellign his suspension to me for a good price and Im wondering if anyone here has had experience with these coilovers.

I wanted to inquire guys,
is there a special tool needed to take out the old bushings and put in the new one?

Keep in mind that i wont be reusing the old OEM bushings and putting in the new poly bushings . i thought i could just take out the old ones with a screw driver or what not, and grease and install the new ones and then ready to goo, but i keep hearing that i need a special tool?.. response?

you'll need a press. best bet, if you can, is to remove all of the control arms, bring them to a shop and have them press the old ones out for you. you can install the ES poly bushings yourself (no press required).

i will add another positive vote for koni/GC. i have run all sorts of setups - both spring/shock setups and full coloivers - on civics and integras, and this one always by far outperforms everything in both ride comfort and road handling (this is my third iteration in the last 10 years).

not only is it fully adjustable and customizable, but as someone mentioned earlier - WAY easier to service. konis have a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser and springs/parts from GC are a quick phone call away if you want to change something up.

really now, what are the downsides?

so i dont need a tool then, alright cool...
i wont be keeping the old oem rubber bushings so i dont see why i need to take it to a place when i can just rip em out..

ahh

R1020..
ive heard pros and cons from both sides man..

it really comes down to either

Koni Yellow's with Ground Control or P.I.C

the question now is what do i want with regards to spring rate

8/6
10/8
10/12
12/14
14/18

ahhhhhhhhh
decisions
decsions

oh my God, that is the funniest thing i've heard all day...

konis are a breeze to install, just like any other shock on a civic.

to the OP, spring rates are kind of a subjective thing. it depends on what type of roads you drive on, what size swaybars you have, etc...

to give you an idea, i run 380lb/in, 8" springs up front and 350lb/in, 7" springs in the rear. i run the stock 19mm from swaybar and a JDM ITR 23mm rear swaybar. my car rotates nicely and is very tolerable on toronto streets (my wife doesn't complain and my two young kids love it!).

just for reference, 380lb/in is 6.8kg/mm and 350lb/in is 6.2kg/mm.

i don't think that's how you would install tokico hp's... or d-specs/hts...

But then, you have a better way of installing them...

yes, the inserts are a pain - but the car in question here is a '95 civic, which uses shocks.

now see theres the thing when ur talking about how many lb's is in the front and back

my entire car is dynamatted so i have extra weight in my car.. how much weight? im not too sure.. BUT i know my rear is much heavier than my front
so i would probably have to go with a higher spring rating
