Unhappy No more Nikon D40

After 2 months of researching and thinking, I finally decided to get myself a D40.
So I went to a shop today, and they told me Nikon has stopped the production of D40, and they won't have it anymore.
I am so disappointed right now, after such long thinking and finally decided to invest money on a DSLR, I was so happy and excited this morning, and they just throw a bucket of cold water onto my head.

Now I have no idea what to do next, even if I can find a place which still carry the D40, but Im not sure should I buy one that has stopped production. And Im thinking they MIGHT release another entry level DSLR later.

Should I find a place which still has it and buy it~?

Nooooooooo, not the D60

Either step up to a D80 or a D90. D40x and D60, not much difference.

Henry's has none??

I'm seeing that there is only a $10 difference between the D40 and D60 body.

its cuz the d60 kit comes with a VR lens opposed to a non-vr one the d40kit has.

from my experience. dont bother investing in bodies unless you have to. they depreciate like crazy. if money is an issue for you (and it is for most of us!!!) then i suggest you buy used. you can find used d40's all over the place for much less than retail. sometimes they'll even still be in warranty. Nikon's have a 2 yr warranty on their bodies, and i know a lotta ppl who would sell their d40 for the new d5000. BUT fyi, nikon warranties officially are not transferable, so best if you can buy from somebody with original bill of sale, or a friend.

the only thing with buying a used D40 is that its probably been dropped and beat to crap cuz its a cheaper camera and the previous owner probably didnt respect it very much. a new D60 is 10-50 dollars more, its newer, its not used and has a couple more bells and whistles

you guys are lucky now with the entry level cameras. when I got into it a 6mp entry level dslr cost min 1000bucks

That's totally not true. It depends on the person. You're more likely to get a "dropped" or a banged up camera from a professional than an amateur. Pro's use their gear like no tomorrow, amateurs tend to baby their's.
