Competitions

hopefully in the near future we'll be able to do the contests a little differently..

http://www.torontocivics.com/tccv5fo...splay.php?f=51

check it out, become familiar with it..
lemme know what you thnk and i'll see if any recommendations can become reality

basically, the winner will contact one of the designated admin/mods and a new comp will be created like the ones shown...when pics are entered and the time has expired they'll be opened for voting thru that thread..

could make things harder or could make things easier (for us ), guess we'll wait and see

It's working for me now. It wasn't a few minutes ago.
It looks like whatever you did worked Whiplash.

at present, you can submit pictures to the threads created..
all discussion for those threads will be conducted in this forum..

as each winner is decided and they choose the next topic a new thread is created, both here and in the challenge forum...
here we discuss it and lay out the rules, over there we submit our pics and then, when time expires, we vote

how to submit photos:
go to challenge forum
enter thread you'd like to compete in
upper right side there's a link saying "submit photos" or something like that - click it and upload your pics
yer in

when time limit for challenge is expired one of us will enable voting

oh, might i add...
there's the chance there will be two challenges going on at the same time, that way you can be shooting at the same time voting is going on

no down time

what's everyone think about tiff files for challenges?
we'll prob have to drop the over-all size of the image below the 1500 dpi barrier but then exif can be included
normally jpeg done thru a "save for web" ditches the exif, as well as degrading the quality of the image
tiff can retain 16bit logic

opinions wanted, on everything!!!

OR would everyone wanna keep the old system of challenges?

lemme know
thanx

it was just a thought Matt..
me, i prefer to maintain high file integrity, 16 bit tiff does that over jpg
hell if i could load up NEF i would
jpg is cool..perhaps you could write something up for those who normally resort to "save for web" to reduce file size??
