Hmmm was a scammed?

Aite, I need some help guys.

I recently walked into Town & Country BMW and ordered a 2010 128i. I was shooting to get a negiated price of Invoice + $500. I know the invoice cuz I had a friend check it out on those sites (cant remember which one he used sorry). Anyways I told the Sales guy that I won't settle for anything beyond Invoice + $575. He talks to his manager and comes back to me with an even better number Invoice + $310. I was thinking, alright sounds great a bit fishy but great because the sales guy was a friend of a friend so I figured ya he's doing me a favour, Nice!

Now I'm paying cash for the car and BMW currently has a cash incentive of $1,000 for the 2010 128i's I didn't know about this when negotiating and figured that whatever I negotiate is just the price I'm paying. Now the sales guy tells me that there's an incentive and I said great, he then goes on and says that since I have to wait for the car to be built and the delivery date is past the ending period of the Incentive program (Feb 1st 2010) I am not gauranteed the $1,000 so I might have to pay another $1,000. Now at this point I'm a bit confused as he also says that if there is a new incentive program after Feb 1st I would be enrolled for that incentive when I pick up the car. Now what I am not sure about is this... Did the dealer just eat my $1,000 incentive and really actually only give me Invoice + $1310 instead of the Invoice + $310 that we had negotiated? If so how can I get them to give me that money? (Assuming of course that there will still be the Incentive program when it comes time for me to pick up the car in March 2010?

I'd love to hear your opinion on this as I've been wracking my mind all day about this and it's really pissing me off. I don't care so much about the $1,000 more so I am pissed about the fact that they may be trying to pull one over on me and I really hate that!!

Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
eLo

I thought incentive programs take effect right at the POS, and not when then car is ready for pick up.

Car salesmen are all ******, so watch yourself

I'm not too sure actually... That's what I really want to know... IF it really does take effect right away then I definitely got scammed out of my $1k and only got a negotiated price of Invoice + $1310 instead of $310. o_0

And about the first post... its odd... I remember posting a lot more than 1 hahah. But it's been almost a year since I've been back on the forums since I sold my CRX a few years back so maybe they erased my data and just kept the profile? I'm pretty sure I was a member even before my Dec. 2007 date showing lol. Oh well.

I'd never pay the suggested retail sticker price....especially when paying cash or cheque. Usually you can get the 5-10 % when paying full out.

IF you got the money for a BMW then you shouldn't be complaining over a grand... no?

That's not the point. The point is that the salesman/manager were trying to pull a fast one the OP. Besides, in the end $1000 is $1000, regardless of how much the car cost.

Agreed! Never pay the price they are asking, NEVER! Go to another dealer and see what they'll quote you since your paying cash. Remember Cash is King!
