New right here

Hello everyone who is readin' this. I'm pretty new to the forum and the car scene and this is my first post. I drive a stock '98 4 door with RSX seats a cheap stereo and tint, all self installed. I drive the car every day to school or work, so I'm not looking to heavily mod it right now. The car currently has a ****ed head gasket that I'm SLOWLY getting around to fixing. Just thought I'd say hey to everyone and see if there's any meets in Barrie. I like to see other people's cars and get ideas from the experience.

Morgan

P.S. if anyone has a REALLY CHEAP D16y7 lemme know! hahaha

Yeah, I've been looking at the classifieds, I'm mostly hoping that someone swaps theirs out and just wants to get rid of it. Unfortunately I only work one or two days a week and my tuition for college is about 4000 or so a year so it's a little of a pickle. And I'm also keeping an eye out for Barrie meets because I think it'd be pretty sweet. I'd like to post up a pic of my car, but all my shots are 4.5mb and the attachment thing only allows 1mb, can anyone inform me of how I can post 'em up?

Welcome to TCC! Use photoshop or flick or something to shrink the pics.

^ I couldn't agree with you more about vtec. Currently I'm running the stock D16y7 with over 333,000 Km on it... I just switched off the stock plug wires 2 weeks ago. The car was my dad's and is now mine, hence the seats, stereo and tint. I've been reading a lot of the motor swap threads and I don't need a big power increase. a D16 with vtec would do just fine for me... And if were actually a nickle than I would have done it. I'm on an EXTREMELY tight budget. Basically I just need the car to keep running at the moment.

haha i hear u man, but 333k on a honda motor is just fairly broken in... these suckers can last past 500k

well ur on a good start, if u are on a tight budget the best thing u can do atm is just maintain the engine u have right now, till u have enough to grab a new one and throw it in there, check out honda-tech also in there classifieds they often have these motors f.s for a long time...= big price reduction

^ I have to do a head gasket anyway, so if I were to find a Z6 or Y8 head and put a new gasket, what would be involved in that? new plugs, any new sensors or what?

umm its been a long time since i read about the mini me.. But use the search function , its been cover 1000 times

As far as I know , you only need to add wires for the vtec , ecu , and it is recomended to change the tranny ... But i may be missing a few stuff

yeah ur gunna need the harness for vtec, and the ecu

the tranny is fine, if u are having issues with it, doing both at the same time would greatly improve the overall end result imo.

but yeah, google, search on this forum is your friend, any other questions post em in the engine section of this forum,
Engine - Toronto Civic Club - Honda Civic Forum

also check this out, this is for a b-series dunno how much it relates to d but check it out..
How to wire vtec
