CBR 125.. Small rider?
Hey guys.
Just got my m2 towards the end of summer this year..gonna start riding next year come spring.
Now I've heard many of the pro's/con's on the CBR125, but most people who have criticized it are the bigger riders. I'm 18yrs, 5'5", and weigh about 110-120 LBS..Not really one of the "bigger riders" lol
The reason the CBR is appealing to me is because of:
a) cheap on insurance. At 18, insurance rapes you, and the 125 can get insured for about $130 a month, where the ninja is $150. Not a big difference, but have to consider the $280/month for my integra..it adds up
b) can get one for about $2000, whereas the ninja250 goes for $3500-$4000
Now I've rode a CBR125 for the RTI test, and it was alright for me. However, I realize that there is a HUGE difference between a parking lot and real roads. For all of you who have owned a CBR125 before, would my light weight compensate for the relative lack of power? At 5'5", I have a feeling the bike would work well with my height. Or would I simply feel very very underpowered. Take into account I'm a new rider who needs to build confidence on two wheels.
Thanks guys!

id say start out on a 600 cbr. ive rode one of thoughs before and they are nice,,handles nice and and its not as touchy on the throttle as some of the other bikes.. your going to grow out of the 125 quick and want to move onto somthing else.

i agree with jeremy, you will definitely grow out of it fast. A ninja 250 would be a much better beginner bike because of the wider tires. my buddy just got his 125 and hes already looking to upgrade the bike into a 600.
Overall I think you will enjoy the 250 alot more and it'll last you longer in the long run because you'll get sick of the 125 quick time.

My first bike was a ninja 250 back in the day. It's a great learners bike in my opinion. I haven't rode the 125R tho. But, that thing is tiny. Hell, my front wheel is bigger than it's rear wheel. LOL. for 1500 bux more I'd go for the 250. Cause after a while, you'll probably end up with a 600 or 750. So might as well get used to a little more weight.
