The Basement

Just had our basement finished and would like to share some pics with you guys. Total covered area, before construction, was approx. 1300 sq ft. and after construction, it turned out to be approx. 1000 sq ft.

The design, which i did myself, includes one bedroom (10x10 sq ft), one storage room (10x8 sq ft), L shaped storage closet, 3pc bathroom and an open U shaped hallway.

We lost some space since the staircase, furnace and the water heater was in the centre of the floor so i designed the basement by splitting the whole space into two areas....the hallway on one side and everything else on the other.

Time for pics....

View of Stiarcase-Before Construction (As mantained by previous owner)

During Construction

After Construction: (Furnace and water heater are behind the wide white door, BR on the right, closet and then the Bathroom)

View of the Main hallway - Before Construction

During Construction:

After Construction:

The TV will go on the wall directly upfront alongwith the speaker setup. Two floor standing speakers in the front, centre channel, sub and rear surround speakers on the wall (you can see the cables dangling out the wall)

Thanks for looking.....

SAL

AWESOME.. that's how i wish my dad had done the basement... he turned a basement that could have potentially been a huge living area into a ridiculous maze. We have 5 sectioned rooms in the basement it's so ridiculous, people get lost coming down to the basement.

Wow, that looks amazing Sal. I swear your basement looks like a basement I've seen on a recent episode of a CND home modeling show on HGTV.

Did you really do this yourself? If you did, you got talent man.

My compliments, Salman. The finished product looks great, will be so wicked when you get the furniture & electronics in there. Nice design & colour scheme.

^^ i did haul the trash away tho..haha. the actual construction work was done by a pro contractor i hired for the job. a single guy who did it all by himself in about 6 weeks time.

before the start of the project, i was looking at two options. either hire an architect or construction designer to design the whole layout or do it myself. i decided to do the design myself cuz it was just too expensive to hire an architect (or you can say i didnt want to pay anyone for the job). alot of ppl told me that dont just rely on the contractor for the design......cuz you should know what you want to begin with. after watching those design shows on hgtv for years...i felt it shouldnt be too difficult.

it was a two days of back and forth discussion. my wife had told me how she wants in the space and it turned out just like it.

i did learn a ton of things while this was being done.....you just gotta keep check on everything and ask questions.

thanks everyone for liking it so far.
