Finally a day were it isn't cold.. My friend flopped at the last minute so i might as well just drop the engine. Planned to use a simple board attached to wheels to wheel the engine out, but couldn't find a way to put it under with only 2 mounts holding. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/191.jpg After about 20 minutes playing with the jacks so it would get as low as possible i finally dropped the engine onto small pieces of wood. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/193.jpg started to remove the flywheel housing and tranny to be able to carry to my basement. Apart from holding the shift linkage in one hand and the tranny in the other, it really wasn't that hard. Accidentally cut my starter wire a while back guess i need a new one. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/194.jpg http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/198.jpg http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/199.jpg http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/196.jpg Also completely forgot to drain the tranny fluid so whatever was left over spilled. Nothing kitty litter can solve. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/197.jpg Looking at an empty engine bay gives me a lot of inspiration. Theres just too much potential. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/200.jpg ...Then i looked at whats left of the rocker panel and cried ;p http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/...kicker/202.jpg |
why did you crack the tranny open? And why is the shifter linkage still connected? Get the b!tch pin out and disconnect it...gawd *facepalm*
i got the pin out at home, and why wouldn't i? im not going to be reusing the tranny or the engine. might as well learn how everything works by looking inside? Much better then diagrams dont you think?
yeah, but by just looking at it, what did you learn? Props to you for doing this, no disrespect, but if it was me, i would rather sell the parts off rather than take everything apart to "learn".
You may want to learn about things before you take things apart so that you know how it comes apart without damaging anything and so that you can put it back together to sell.
Nothing wrong with taking things apart, just make sure you know what your doing and read/research it first. Knowing how something goes together/comes apart before hand makes it a lot easier to take it apart/put it back together. Especially for something like a transmission, there are certain important steps and procedures for taking it apart and putting it back together, or serious damage could and can occur... |
its real easy to take stuff apart .. good luck putting it all back together. That will be a test of your patience.
sadly im going to be too busy to do anything until june since im too busy all day with school and work. I'll probably squeeze sometime to work on it but who knows.
pull the cover off that trans and post up a pic of the internals! I wanna learn too!
