what do u think this is???

k i duno if its in the right section of the fourm but here i go..... k i installed a deck bought the wire harness installed everything right..yellow to yellow..red to red..etc..
im trying to sell my deck so i took out all the wires and left my civic harness i bought still in .. i hit a turn and sparks started so i pulled over and took out the harness.. my dash lights blew and my lighter fuse blew..... so i think its 15 and 11 that i had to replace..... replaced them..... now i turned off the car and restarted it......clock reseted.....now everytime i start up the car it resets... now today i put my deck back in.....it wouldnt wire up yellow to yellow.. red to red......power wouldnt start.. the only way i could put the power to the deck was putting the red and yellow wires together..turned off the car.. cd ejected everytime i started up car...... lol i was sooo pissed.. i pulled out the deck after 30 mins drivin with it and i felt the wires and it was burning HOT..... the deck was HOT..i mean hottttt burned me.. i assume it was cause 24volts being sent to the deck since the yellow and red wires are connected..... so what could it be.. my clock is dimmed whenevre i turn on the lights.... it resets.. i have to wire the yellow and red together to get power to the deck.....any help would be greatly appreciated

have you used a multimeter to check which wires have voltage/current and which don't? it might shed some more light on the situation.....

yer clock..is it in the deck or seperate..
sounds like it's running switched power..it too takes two inputs..one for power (seen) and the other for memory..

ya, use a meter to check the plug to see what's what..
and re-check yer fuses too..make sure any others aren't burnt out..(as having to use both yelow and red together seems to signify..)

also, check the plug w/o the deck but car on...anything getting hot?? might have melted some wires together or shorted something out..check yer wires if you can for breaks/melding etc..

re-thinking things and ya, sounds like you missed a fuse..
the clock and the deck (probably yellow) are running on the same circuit..that fuse is still blown..

and it was hot because you had a short tape off wires and everything will be fine there is only 12 volts in your car ... I hope you deck survives....

then yer yellow wire is fooked up somewhere along the line..
try a test lite on the red and the yellow, see if they both have power..(you'll have to turn on the key for one of them to work..)

sooner or later we'll figger this out..

i did something like that once
i ended up screwing up my power to my deck, the wire only brought out 6 volts instead of 12, i guess it was touching somewhere else
i ended up taping off that wire, and running a new wire straight from the battery (with a fuse to be safe)

run the yellow straight to the fuse panel..
pick something switched..
see if that does it for ya..

or, leave the yellow constant, that's cool, it just means you can run yer system w/o the key in..
just remember to shut off yer deck when you leave the car or yer battery is gonna run down

did you check the fuses under the hood? i had a problem like yours, minus the heat, and i blew the backup fuse under the hood

the clock would reset everytime i shut down the car, and the deck would not operate.
