Viper Alarm 300 ESP
#4
I'll send you the info on how to diasble that feature.
In the meantime, turn on your interior light so that it thinks the door is still open. Only do this when you fill the car with gas. And remember to turn it off so it doesn't drain the battery when you park it for the night.
That's what I did on my old car when I forgot how to reprogram that option.
I'll see if i can dig up the programing manual. :working:
Team Rukus, he wants to make it so that the 30 second arming when last door is closed feature, is turned off. If I remeber corectly, you can do that through he remote durng the programing....ie......with the valet switch, but I have to check my books to make sure........it's been awhile since I worked in a DEI/Viper alarm.

I also think you can put it into valet via the remote.
Try this for now.....
One of 2 ways.....can't recall exactly....
1. Turn the ignition to the on position......open the drivers door.....arm......disarm.....arm....disarm.....it should now be in valet.
Doors will still work...ie.....arm the car now, and the car doors will lock, but the alarm will not.
2. If that way doesn't work, just try do do it with the ignition off, and then do that aram disarm arm disarm thing.
To get out of the valet.....do the same thing again.
I'm still trying to find the program manual for that alram. I'll PM yo when I do.

OK, you have 2 options...........
Active/passive arming, and forced pasive arming.
The difference between the two is simple.
Active arming is what you have right now. It will lock and arm the car after 30 seconds when you close the last door.
Forced pasive arming is simular, but with one exception......it still arms the car after 30 seconds, BUT will not lock the doors. (safety feature). They will only lock the doors if you use the remote to arm it. This is very helpful if you still want the car to arm by itself, but want to make sure the doors don't lock by accident with the keys still inside. My cousin's mom sometimes used to borrow her old car, and she used to forget to arm the alarm with the remote.....she would lock the doors with the key, but she would ALWAYS forget to arm the car. Also great to have when you forget to arm the car yourself.......the doors may be unlocked, but the alarm will still arm by itself. Partial protection.
Now, as for active arming (what you were thinking of doing)......the bad thing is if you forget to arm the car, the doors will be unlocked, and the alarm off. Great for a thief.
I would rather have the forced arming turned on imo. Can you or your G/F live with the occational auto arming with the keys inside, and you or her looking like a fool for opening the door and having the alarm sound?...... but hey!.....at least you'd still be able to get the keys.
As for how to do it........check PM. :P

Thanks man. I would just like to have the alarm arm only when the remote is used and locks lock only when the remote is used. I guess what I'm looking for is simple and active arming. The procedure you sent me should do for now. I'll let you know how it goes.
