Temp Guage Pin

Temp Guage Pin
While painting my 95 Civic Guage Cluster, my friend accidentally removed the needle and pointer on the temp guage.
I tried to put the pin back in but it won't hold. I'm wondering if I got to push harder for it to clip in, or if I am screwed.
If anyone has any idea, please let me know or I guess I'm off to the Junk Yard on Saturday
