Thanks dude, but like I said, it's my folks', and they're in Ottawa, while I'm in London. My dad owns a current gen Jetta TDI. Anyhow, they happen to be good friends with the VW mechanic they go to, so I know my parents won't get screwed, or I'll drive down and beat him with a strut bar!

But I'm with you... I know how lousy VWs can be, and I have no desire to ever deal with that brand again.

yeah, that's funny we had a Jetta and a Golf, both TDI, one was a 99.5, and the other is a 2000 (both Mk4) ... 2X the headaches, and I'm the only VW 'mechanic' my parents know LOL

your looking at it...I found a pair.... they generally range from 500-600cdn

remember used OEM will have no tax.. you pay 400 for a crappy new seat plus tax your into 460 at least plus possible shipping,

AND THEN you have to pay for install, rails custom welded bracket,s crappy seatbelt clip fitment... now your almost at 700$ for a seat that may not save your life and you have that ugly handwelded bracket that will rust...

A nicely built car is in the details. OEM seats have all the proper covers over the brackets and nice clean designed footings for the bolts... when you look under the seat it looks nice, no fugly welds that looks like a repair job.

My ITRS also have a lumbard, full retraction formard and back, full sliding forward and back, qucik relese to let people in and out of the back seat, they are made from high quality suade (sp?) that wont fade in the sun, nice strong bolsters that will never squash and brake down in 2 years, adjustable head rest... all this for 500cash

how can you even think about anythin other than OEM in that price range

High end new seats are expensive for a reason... OEM are not expensive cuz they are used. not cuz they suck

where to find a set for $500? i originally wanted these cause i liked the JDM ITR seats so much. the bolsters are bigger than the USDMs, and im not a huge fan of the headrests cause im pretty tall and with the head rests extended almost fully the seats dont look very good.

do the USDM ITR seat brackets directly bolt onto my hatchback? i thought welding/customization was still necessary...

just search around classifides forums you will find usdms for that price ...the jap ones are way more pricey due to the fact they come from across the world.

and you will never have to weld anything for an OEM application.... worse case is rail swapping, your OEM rails will bolt right up to the ITR seat, its a very simple process.

eh Bar how do you like your USDM ITR's? I had em in my car for almost a year and couldnt stand them. They were soo uncomfortable!!! I ended up getting del sol's and LOVE them.

I dyed the stripe black so it looks half decent, but they feel soo much better, like night and day.

Maybe in a few weeks I'll pickup some real Recaro's for my other car. Check out the pic of the replica's, the center is straight, must feel like *** sitting in them. Not knocking teknotic whatsoever... but comparing those seats to OEM... wow what a difference...
