I took off my stock AM/FM controller deck from my '96 Civic hatch to add a CD changer and found a weird box.

It was attached to the stock deck and mentioned Honda security system. What is this box?

I know, probably a security brain but my Civic doesn't have any type of security system (except the aftermarket one I had installed). Also disconnecting the box doesn't do anything and the radio still works.

Anyone know what the box does and how to enable it's features?

It might control power door locks, or some other feature like that, I remember hearing something about it, but not to clear on it sorry.

Sorry, some more info on my Civic.

Basic '96 Civic HB CX. No power locks, no power windows or fancy options. Does have Auto and A/C though.

P.S. The Honda "Black" box also appeared to have an flexible antenna attached to it.

I beleive it is for keyless entry...

Does you dome light still work???
