are the dimensions for a sub enclosure the same if the sub is inverted?

nope. u'd have to estimate how much less space it is cause i don't think they tell u.

yup less space because the magnet is not taking up airspace

good luck with it. i think inverted subs look way better than just the cone of it (providing its got a bigass magnet)

Okay, so basically I just take their dimensions they give for an enclosed box and subtract what I feel is the volume of the magnet?

what kind of sub is it? you going sealed or ported?

find the specs of it and it should tell you the displacement of the entire sub

if you need help PM me

agreed, you should be able to find the displacement w/o any problems..
subtract that from the recommended "sub in" volume

It's probably easier because you don't have to estimate the volume consumed by the driver.

Do you have the t/s parameters?

actually it would be a little diff if you invert. Finding the subs displacement is fine, but the number will be bigger than what you are actually working with, because you need to find the area that the cone takes up, since the displacment is calculated from the rear of the speaker (magnet, basket, rear of cone etc)

I dont think they tell you how much area the cone on the front occupies.

But when you find that number, you just buid a box to spec and subtract the cone area and that will be your est box size.

wow, thats gonna be a small box.. the recommendation is 1 cu/ft. does it sound any different than a regular sealed box?

What is the advantage of inverted subs? or is it just for show?

^ just for show.
no difference in sound.
some people also say better cooling, but it has been proven that the cooling is very minor and should not be considered at all

for me, I want to put them in the back of the trunk but want them facing the rear.. so I guess I have to invert them
