Stereo problem... bad wiring? Is it ok to leave this?

Hey so I just picked up a 94 sedan, and it has a panisonic deck in it, and kenwood speakers. So the other night we are driving home and one of my friends in the back says that there is nothin coming from the back speakers, so I checked out the wires where they hook up to the speakers today, and found one to be off, so I put it back on and that speaker worked. However, the other speaker is still not working. I took the deck out and the install appears to be a real hack job. I was just like... ok I'm just gonna put it back in and get someone to look at it. So when I went to put it back in, I heard a popping sound over the speakers, and smoke came out of the deck. Everything still works, but I think the power cord to the deck might have some exposed wiring or something. I unplugged it from the deck, but is it ok to leave it like that till I get it looked at? Should I disconnect the battery? Thanks

well if the yellow or red touches any ground it will spark and most likely simple blow a fuses but fires are not unheard of.. I would tape everything up espacially the black yellow and red wires.

the wires are not red and yellow on the cars harness. Its only red and yellow on the decks harness or an aftermarket wiring harness. I'm not sure if you have a harness on there or not. However, if you do have a harness do tape up the yellow, red, and black wires. btw, tape up each wire seperately, not all together. If you don't have a harness, tape up every wire you see.
