Stereo Install

I have a stock CD player in my SIR and was thinking of putting in an aftermarket cd player.
Question: I know they sell those kits for aftermarket stereos. Liek bracket kits, do I really need one or will I be able to install a cd player after taking the old one out?

What are you guys on? The stock deck in an EK is Din sized. I have an aftermarket deck in my car and its mounted in exactly the same way as the factory was. It bolts right onto the subframe behind your centre console. The only problem you may have is fitting the plastic disc holder thats below the deck in. Mine happened to slide nicely into the bottom of my deck. You might have to secure it some other way but its not difficult to mount plastic to metal especially when you can pull the entire frame out.

the dash kit is there so you have an opening that is exactly DIN sized and because the deck has that weird curved side its needed to fit properly, or atleast on my 98 thats how it is.
