SRS-Horn?

whats up people..
i have a question regarding SRS...
During the summer i had to replace my cable reel on my steering column.
(A picture of a cable reel = http://www.s2000.org/mods/hub/image10.jpg).
Now when i replaced it(the cable reel was in mint condition.. no tares it was taken off my buddies car), i connected my cruise control back up connected my horn, and connected the airbag.. everything worked fine.. i then reset the SRS using these steps (http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/srsreset.htm).
Since then everything ahs been workign fine. All of a sudden my srs light turned on.. my horn stopped working.. then as the light remains on, the horn now works on random sometimes.. So im not sure if this would be due to a connection issue in regards to the new cable reel.. Or maybe this could be another factor.. Does anyone know of a way of testing the SRS system to find the cause.. OR does anyone know of a solution to this problem..
I do appreciate any feedback..
Thank you

ive already reset the module.. 95 honda civic
light comes back on
i believe its the cable reel, does anyone know if their is a necessary procedure when installing it? i know you take the steering wheel off, connect the cable reel.. put the indicators back, then the reel then steering wheel.. and then make necessary connections..

Does anyone know when replacing the steering wheel, if any other pieces goes with it.. like a spindal or some type of mechanism?
Thanks

did u install the clock spring and reel? also you cant just install it just like that. the reel has to be spooled to one side before you install it or the reel doesnt function properly.

i belive the clock spring is attached to the cable reel. When i read the instruction manual of a honda, it says i have to make an alignment so that the yellow gear tooth is in between the mark.. thats all that was stated regarding any spooling... is their something prior that i have to do?? & do you think the cable reel is damaged already ?..
Thanks

I have spooled the cable reel like it is stated in the user manual.

It first says to do this by rotating the cable reel clockwise until it stops. Then rotate it counterclockwise (approximately two turns) until:

- The yellow gear tooth lines up with the mark on the cover
- The arrow on the cable reel label points straight up.

I have done that and still nothing.. But what i find weird is that when the steering wheel was installed, when turning to the left i was only limited to a certain amount of turns before it was unable to turn anymore because the wheel was fully turned. But if i turned right, i could keep turning the wheel all the way to the right and even though the wheel is fully turned to the right i was still able to turn it, but the cable reel would be squeaking.

I have tested the horn with two wires to ensure that it still works, i also tested the ground on the actual steering wheel itself and that shows connectivity...

I have checked fuses, none are blown...

the only thing i can think of is the cable reel would be the issue.. BEFORE i took the wheel off and disconnected the cable reel, the horn would work when i turned the wheel half way to the right, only in that position...

anyone have any ideas??.. any information would be greatly appreciated..

i know what your going through man trust me, i went to a junk yard and found one
BUT
this is important.. WHatever state you take it out of the car, KEEP IT IN THAT STATE do NOT turn it .. i got a tie strap, and ran it through the reel to keep it in the same as if it was in the car
its a tedious task, because you will find the piece you are looking for and some a-hole already destroyed it prior to taking out the cruise control or whatever...

happy searching man, i hope what i said can be of sum usefull information

well i made sure the wheels were completely straight before i took my steering wheel off...and im not sure what position the wheel was in the junk yard so i think im gonna have to count the number of turns and make sure the reel is straight before i put it in...i'll let u know how it goes when im done...thanks again
