4 12"s? So what?

160 is ridiculously hard to hit, properly atleast (meaning in an acctual competition w/ the rules).

Yea my system right now is soft too, but if everything goes well, it's gonna be nice in the summer. Those who checked out my previous topic know what I'm talking about. SQ all the way.

yeah those 4 12's wont even come close to knocking off a 160, you need an insane stereo and set up to pump out 160db's

lol if you hit 160 db in that car with those subs you can call me an idiot

just to let you know,

On the decibel scale, the smallest audible sound (near total silence) is 0 dB. A sound 10 times more powerful is 10 dB. A sound 100 times more powerful than near total silence is 20 dB. A sound 1,000 times more powerful than near total silence is 30 dB. etc etc

160 is 10^16 times louder than the threshold of hearing....at 160 db you get instant preforation of your eardum, which means you'll probably go deaf and it'll hurt like a bitch.

140 is a jet engine and 180 is a rocket taking off

yeah that car wont even come close to hitting a 160db's with that set up, i love when people throw numbers up in the air not knowing how hard it is to even go from say 142db's up to 150.

Tradionally, if you have your system set up as efficent as possible and tuned so you can get the highest SPL number out of that equipment, to get an increase of 3 db you would need to double your setup or something like that...i think

I dont know how close to fact this is but a regular spl competiror told me this.

Thats funny that you say that, cause in my last run through IASCA in the summer I did a 6db jump- Have the scoring paper to prove it . I'm not going to argue with you and say my cars going to hit that, I said it MIGHT COME CLOSE. I never said I would. Also how do you know that I dont have a insane stereo setup? In most peoples eyes I do. It's good enough to run in IASCA's SPL comps. And win!

1) you have a coupe with a trunk, you dont have open air...even if you pull your seats down it wont be the same
2) your box is sealed
3) the first post said "sq" woofers, so im assuming they're not best for SPL
4) those subs cost $50 new on ebay for a reason ( if i got the right ones ebay # 5857093143)

obviously you dont NEED those things but if your trying to hit 160 db in a civic every little thing will help

what kind of amps do you have?

Yeah she should hit around 150 no one ever said anything about 160, Nova was just asking a question and all of a sudden everyone is saying 160. How loud it will be will be determined this year at an Iasca event. One thing I do know is it will be damn loud.

The loudest I ever got was 135dbs with 2 10's in sealed into my spare tire well, and that was only with around 450 peak watts of power. Mind you my car is not geared at all twords SPL, but when I compete in SQ the rules state that we must be able to hit 135dbs or we will loose points. I cant wait to hook up my IDMAX12D2 and MTX 225H.O and run it through the judging lanes this year. Should be interesting!

Ahh so you're getting an IDMAX too? Nice. I love thaqt sub man, it's a good choice, and I can't wait for my two amps and my second IDMAX.

We'll see what I can do with those. Won't be no big SPL competition thing, but it will sound nice.
