Removeable steering wheel hub

Hey guys. I'm thinking about getting one of those steering wheel hubs where it has the qucik disconnect like the ones used in racecars. I think it's a great security feature. Anyone know who makes them, where I can get one, and roughly how much they sell for?

Any help is appreciated.

they are called quick release hubs.
they cost anywhere from 350 and up
i kno sparco makes them
they are a good safety feature
but car cannot be safetied UNLESS the hub has a cert. label on it.

How much is the Grant one? I'd get the $120 one but it says its not street legal, and paying $60 more for the same things seems stupid

just recieved the kit. i installed it, however, the screws that they supplied me did not screw in, so i am going to get a tekniq hub instead of using the adapter plate to my momo hub.

system is really stirty. in order the the steering wheel to come off, you need the key to unlock it, otherwise it snaps on with ease.
perhaps next week, i'll have the system installed and i'll come out to the meet. i still have it on, but i have to remove it so i can put back my old steering wheel so i can drive.

so u can get a momo wheel and remove it whenever u want and take it with you? Is that how these things work? How hard is it to take off? Does it take long?

okay, i have the Tekniq removable steering wheel system installed on my car, i'll come to the next meet, if anyone wants to see or what not, but Ray (don't know his screen name) had the system first i believe. it was quite neat. very safe and very stirdy.
if you have an aftermarket steering wheel, same concept on installing and removing.

so with the kit you still have to buy a hub?

it really depends.
if you don't have an aftermarket steering wheel already than i suggest you go with the Tekiq hub, if you have a hub already with an aftermarket steering wheel than you can always opt to get the hub but i would highly recommand it, since the steering wheel is pushed out 1.5 inches towards you. so your signal and wiper arm aren't reachable like they were normlaly.

and yes, you can detach it and bring it along anywhere you wish.
the system like i said is really stirdy. i tried yanking on it, but you need the key to release it.

but i can always make it out to the meets and show whomever wants to see it, just let me know if you want me to come out to the meets or not.

on the link 94eg6hb posted it says it's for street use so most likely it's certified

gatherer. there isn't any thing that came with a certificate or what not, it only comes with a patenent number on the hub.
but no other fancy sticker besides patent number.

I can make fancy stickers..... I'm sure it's ok and if you sell your car just pu thte stock wheel back in .... you only need to certify the car when you sell it
