better just to get one if u want trunk space...i need a 2ft sealed for my sub just for one...two will definately rape your trunkspace...i need to get it made its at .88 ported right now...cant wait till i get that box its gonna be so much louder

one of the smart ones around here.
the subs he listed will kick the **** out of any crappy audiobahn/jbl/sony/fosgate/alpine/kenwood etc..

what are you looknig for?
sound quality subs?
loudass subs?
mix of both?
how much of your trunk space are you willing to give up?
in most cases, one properly ported 12, will sound great and get louder than 2 12's sealed.

theres so many factors, answer those questions and list as much info as possible (especially ur budget)

Well I dont need anything TO fancy. A standard dual 12" sub box would be the general amount of space I want to give up. I am looking for something of good quality sound over loudness althought something slightly loud would be nice. My budget is around $500-$1000 for 2 subs, box and probably an amp. Ive already ordered 40 sqft of eDead for the trunk.

Thanks
Jeff

if thats what your looking for and gots a 1g to spend on subs, box and amp....i'd probably go for 2 w3's in box with a 500/1....i think that'll run you about a g note and it'll sound proper

How are JL 12W1v2's ? They are $199 each + a box would run me about $550. Any idea how that would sound? Also what kinda of box would you recommend sealed or ported? I can't afford the W7 line as there brutal on price and ive been told by many that the price factor for the W3 over the W1 is for only a little more power. I was also told that the dual W1V2's should be plenty loud with an amp driving 200-250 RMS.

Thanks
Jeff

The image dynamics IDMAX is almost the same in every aspect as the JL W7 except its way lower in cost, I would seriously consider it if you are planning on going JL.

sealed enclosures are the best way to go, it's like jusblaze explained, a ported enclosure can play louder because the air inside the enclosure can escape, but it effects the soundquality. actually, the only advantage of a ported enclosureis that they are somewhat smaller then a sealed enclosure.

actually sealed are smaller
and ported are bigger

the reason ported are generally louder is due to the fact that the reflected wave is allowed to exit not the air

SQ is subjective.

ported boxes do not necessarely sound worse than sealed.

if desighned properly, they can sound just as good as a sealed box.

its just when you stick subs into crappy prefab ported boxes that they sound bad.
