Sounds like the guts might be out of place, or something broke inside.

Bring it in to get serviced..............but before you do that, see if the deck has a reset button. If yes, press it, and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then bring it in.

broken... lemme guess, it's a Kenwood LOL

Fords have this exact problem on a great majority of their OEM cd players

tank colin was just asking me about how future shop works...they MIGHT be able to find your receipt but i think they can only do that for credit card purchases...call the store and ask. as for the warranty you better hope it's less then a year old cuz everything in future shop almost only comes with 1 year unless you buy the PSP. anyways, i had my blaupunkt serviced by an authorized repair place in missisasuga and it was only like $50 to re-solder a bunch of connections and clean the oxydation on my volume thingy.

that clicking noise is the laser trying to focus (goin up and down) and when it reaches its max elevation it clicks and resets...so it seems like the laser has bit the dust or is infact covered with dust...I would try a cd lens cleaner first and if that fails take it in for service as you prolly need a new laser

and futureshop has a **** *** repair policy, takes like a month to get it fixed, they have no loaners...but if it takes over a month they give you a new stereo, thats how I got mine upgraded...then 2 days later they call me and say my old one is back in and its fixed so I picked that one up and made off with 2 decks!

A dirty lazer is not always the problem.

1. I have come across loose screws on the lazer assembly's, which put the alinement out of wack.

2. a broken gear that got jamed in the player. (part has to be replaced).

3. Dislodged part in the deck.....but can easily be put back into place, and the eck will work again.

4. the spindle on the drive motor was brokem/cracked/warped. (have to replace motor)

(just to name a few)

i got it all fixed, took it inside and opened it up, it seems to me that condensation had gotten into it and temporarly froze the track that the lens moves along... cause i put it back into the car and its working great now
