finished parts of my interior

this weekend my friend and i finished up some parts in my dash

im going for a gunmetal / platinum colour accent throughout the car, and keeping the stock black vinyl / plastic

heres a pic of the finished pieces:

we also wired in my power door locks, and we fixed up my neon switches.

a pic of my power door lock switch (yes its kinda ugly, gonna be replaced with a scraped switch when we can find one):

it took a long time to do all this cause the one piece that is around the stereo, climate control, and buttons requires you to take out the entire dash just to get at it. and since we've never taken it out before, it was not all that fun. took around 4h to remove the dash, but after it was done, my friend redid most of the wiring as it had been slashed to pieces from the previous owner, this meant shrink tubing a lot of wiring, and soldering some pieces here and there. he also cleaned up the stereo harness, neon switch light, and power lock relays.. real nice job too

im really happy with the results, all i have left to do in the interior is to redo the carpet (dye it black), paint 2-3 more pieces, and then get some crx si seats and vinyl them (black & gunmetal) and my rear seat.

gap

After having taken out and then reinstalling the bezel trim around the instrument cluster, I notice there is always a gap that exits all along the bottom of the plastic trim around the plastic speedo and below the hazzard button... you know, the place where the plastic meets up with the dash. I can see the gap even in your picture, and I have the same problem. I think this is because some of the clips either get bent soft or break off completely.

Anyone know how to make it fit tight again? The gap is driving me crazy. Doesn't it bother you too?

haha i've had the exact same problem ever since i first took mine out too...

i've been thinking maybe some good double sided 3M tape would hold them together, unless you're going to want to get back in there eventually... i dunno...

just a thought...
any other ideas???

...you could staple it... ?

yea, i dunno
my bros car had the same thing (92 dx)

its not noticeable as much as some cars
cause my colour is quite dark and more like stock than say a white on black

doesnt bother me really, but had I had a white bezel trim.. for sure

oh, i forgot to mention.. i used Meg's Vinyl restorer or something on my dash and black plastic pieces.. it came out really really nice.

The dash is really glossy now. Especially at night with the neons and under artificial lighting. im not sure how it will handle over time, cause its almost like a little oily substance that looks like it will rub off easy, even tho meg's claims that it restores the vinyl and not just greases it up... time will tell... and even then, at $10 a bottle, i dont think I can go wrong for that amount of shine
