After looking at my wife's Civic, I was just wondering if there's a factory CD unit I can add onto her factory stereo. It already has the tape unit in the lower console and it looks like there's room for a factory CD unit below it. It looks like this:



Anyone know?

Nobody knows? I thought this would be the best place to get the info on Civics but I guess not...

yes you can add a cd deck to ur existing system coz there's an exta plug right behind the tape deck or the oem cd deck but you just have to find a place to put it since u have a 97 seden and the din size is single and not the double din like the 99+ civics...
so u'll either have to custom fit it into ur center console or in the glove compartment......

Sisley had a bunch of OEM stereo stuff for sale last week in parts..

They will tell you for sure..

I think you will lose your coin pocket thingy though..

No not listed...

I believe you need the CD unit to add the Tape unit..

Don't think it goes vice-versa

Could be wrong...

Curious why not just replace with aftermarket...

Spend a bit more but get a bunch of features that OEM doesn't offer..

MP3 players ar getting cheaper all the time...

I also believe you can add a 6 disc changer to those decks as well.

there is a plug behind the tape deck where u can add a cd-changer to it... and I believe u can use that to plug in that cd deck...

oh just a thought.... u can always go to Acura and get that part where the 1.6EL use to put there tape deck/cd decks.... it goes right where the optional cigaret lighter/ash tray goes.... if u know what I mean
