EK Interior Questions

Hey guys ...
So after replacing the passenger window, (as someone broke it) , i decided to take apart the interior and clean it up a bit ....

this is where its at right now ....

I will take apart the side moldings today

now the guy who owned the car before me put this green "insulator" everywhere in the car ... this is what it looks like ...

so the question is ... is this really a good sound and vibration insulator? i dont know where it came from but the guy said he put it in to make the stereo sound better .... true?

further down ... removed the pass side plastic molding ... and pass side tail light

and then i saw this plug on both sides of the car and if im not mistaken, a bigger plug is located by the driver side kick panel ... does anyone know what its used for ... obviously its not used for anything for my car, but what is it supposed to be used for?

so basically im wandering what i should be doing to the inside to get it ready for a nice sound system ... ? i would assume run new speaker wires? and a good power and ground wire?

i heard somewhere that you should keep the sound system grounds all together? so i should run ground wire from the back to the front of the car?

what else are you guys suggesting?

thanks!

Replace the tail light gaskets before you put them back in. and seal it properly.

There are different companies that make them and do the same job for a lot less than that price.

are the gaskets problematic? i saw they had a thin layer of adhesive and that was it ... the gaskets are not ripped ... so i should get like a silicone sealer?

and another question ... are the tail lights sealed the same way as the headlights? i saw they have several screws around them and it looks like they come apart easily?

The taillights are really bad for leaking into the body not the light itself i remember when i had my b2200 which has no soundening whatsoever i went to altered altitudes customs and they had 40 sq ft of sound deadening for $120.00

thats enough to do the entire rear section of the car roof and doors but you are going to be adding about 40-50 pounds of dead weight but it will sound better

Oh if you are going to put some good bass in to that car take the bumper off and duct tape the foam to the rebar so it doesn't rattle

yea if you run all ur wires it is better to ground all components in the same spot but the ground wires should be as short as possible...so running from front to back or back to front isn't really ideal. just make sure its a good ground... (sand off any paint on the surface and ground on bare metal) and whereever ur gonna mount ur amp, make sure the rcas ends dont bend too much so u dont gotta run them all over again a few months later. just incase u didnt know :P and again if you didnt know make sure ur rcas and remote wire are separate from ur power wire
