Door input/alarm and speaker size on 5th gen civic

2 Questions

1) What is the MAX door speaker size on 5th gen civic... currently I've got 5 1/4 ... will 6 1/2 fit?

and...

2) Whats a good way to connect the negative door input for my alarm door trigger for my car alarm... its the last wire I have left to connect... I think I'm best to go with the dome light wire? Any idea?

1) I have 6 1/2 in my doors - so yeah they fit.

2) My alarm is connected to that circuit too...it works

thanks HappyB16 but...

thank HappyB16 but...

Wont it mess my alarm up... in that, the wire I've found for the dome light is white/red and is +12V when door is closed, except it changes to a -12V when door is open... what I'm asking is, wont the alarm expect 0 V (NOT +12V) when door is closed and -12 V when door is open? Does the alarm typically "learn this" through its initial programming? If not, I suppose I'll just install a relay to fix this.. but thats extra work!

Im taking a guess here, but I think the door works that, when you open it, the button lets go and completes the circuit grounding to the frame, sort of like the horn when i installed sun.

It was 12v all the time, then when you honk it completes the ground.

thanks

thanks... you were both right.

I fit the Lanzar's 6.5's in but I had to remove the plastic stock retainer. Big improvement from the tired old stock sony 5.25

The alarm works nicely now, it still triggers even when leaving the dome light off.

Thanks
