Did my amp blow up??? HELP!!
SO i was trying to install my amp. I connected the wire from the battery to it (the other end was connected to the battery), the ground wire and the remote wire also. When i tried to turn it on nothing happened. I then realised that the ground wire wasn't attached to the body of the car. so i tried to do that. As soon as i touched the body with the ground wire there were sparks and smoke came outta the amp! Did i blow my whole amp or just a fuse?? can this be fixed??

before you hook up power you should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ground your amp!! it's the first thing you do, then power, and then signal wires... I agree with everyone here, check your fuse, but take it to a shop if you're not sure, you might cause more damage.

ill bet your wernt fuesed at the battery, thats the one that should of fried.. if there isnt one inline to the battery ill bet you fried the amp instead. if there was smoke from the amp, thats no onboard fuse blowing lol...

hey i got a couple of amps for sale ...
sounds like u need a new one...
always inline fuse off your battery and then a fuse block before your amp for extra safety ... then these steps as SilverSig stated
1. GROUND
2. POWER
3. SPEAKER / SIGNAL WIRES
not many people realize that an amp can react as a bomb and blow up if hooked up incorrectly ...

The advice doesn't just apply to car audio:
Any time you're hooking up any powered device and there is a seperate ground and power wire you first ground the device, then check that its grounded, then make sure that its grounded, then go for lunch, come back and check that its still grounded, then consider connecting the power.
You saw what a 12V grounding mistake caused, imagine a 240V high power mistake.
