deck testing

Anyone know any places that will test your deck out to see if it works or produces power any more, preferably in Woodbridge or North York b/c I tried it out and it didn't work but not sure if I rewired it incorrectly, probably not but I just want to double check before I get the hammer out and smash it open to get my cd out.

Thanx

do it yourself.

Pop the hood, apply Constant and Switched Power (Yellow and Red) to POS + terminal, and NEG - to black wire.

If deck turns on and works your in business.

good idea lol

The red and yellow wires are not in one, they are two single wires, do I wrap them together and hook them up to the + or hook up either or.

Thx

You gotta twist together both then apply them to the +

because the constant is always on, its fused and holds the memory for the deck and also is the main supply line of power to the deck.

The switched draws less current and is only used to tell the deck to "switch on" so its like the amp remote turn on wire, only on your deck so your car when the ignition is on tells the deck to turn on, and when off tells it to turn off so you dont drain the battery with the deck being on 24/7.

loudsubz.....

I just tested this now b/c I was too lazy too back then

Anyway I did what you said to test it but everytime I connect it, the fuse always burns on the deck. I also must include that when I was connecting the deck up into my actual radio harness back before I made this thread it did the same thing, turn ignition over and boom it burns the fuse. Nothing is grounding anywhere and im testing this on a different car now. I put yellow and red on positive and black on neg.

Any suggestions?

Thanx

hmmm..well yer hooking it up right, so if yer popping fuses everytime you apply power to it sounds like something is wrong with it..

Thanx Si, should I just launch or is there anyway I can fix it on my own my opening it up b/c it's a great deck, worth nothing but it never screws up and plays all burnt cd's not like my new clarion deck. Maybe transistors or capacators are blown and I can replace them? Any ideas or thoughts? thx

well if you're electronically inclined, go for it..
hop in there and check for openings/crossings on the circuit boards, etc etc..
if yer not tho, it'll probably cost ya near the price of a new one to fix it..

check with Matt (loudsubz) and see if he can have a gander at it for ya..see if his skoolin' has tot him aneething

me, i'd be of the belief i smoked it some how or another and pitch it, but that's me..
