Yeh that is a nice trunk happy, very clean, simple, and the trunk is still very useful.

CiViC_GQ 09-Apr-2002 02:38 AM

Hey happy did u do that your slef? If yes how'd you do it man i wanan do the exact same thing!!! help me out pls

HAPPY 09-Apr-2002 09:11 AM

Yup- not much to it. Just built a box into the well and sealed it with the big top 'plate that is shaped like the moldings. Then I built a small amp rack to the right and cut it so that panel can be lifted to get at the wiring. Then carpet.

However - it did take me quite a while...cause...well....I didn't know WTH I was doing  but it all worked out okay.

Happy, where did you get that nice carpet you used in your trunk? Im debating on whether to use the car audio box carpet or a nice carpet, but cost is an issue too.

heheh - what is your defenition of nice carpet??? That is just generic box carpet that I recoloured black. It's actually pretty shitty carpet but it comes of looking clean and it vertually indestructable. I built my box with golf clubs in mind.

Well it still looks nice, and im trying to find a place to get carpet cheap. I paid $10 a yard for box carpet from the local audio store. I need some cheaper stuff.

i used outdoor deck carpet in my car and it was really hard to work with, but matched the interior. speaking of golf, we should start a golf tournament for the club or just a club outting to play golf. tis the season.

WHere did you buy this stuff from? How much was it?

imported_Stock Si 09-Apr-2002 08:07 PM

Golf would be awsome!...imagine racing the carts!...damn that would be a riot!!!....

rbius 09-Apr-2002 10:10 PM

fishman's cart comes to mind.. heehee.. full multimedia.. now just gotta catch up to the beer cart!

rbius 09-Apr-2002 10:20 PM

but now back to the topic ... another idea for your trunk - box the 12's off to the sides (back against the seats on either side, firing towards the back) and then your amps iin the spaces off to the side. this way you keep the space, it's clean, and you can hit the subs/amps with a little plexi and neon and voila! a show car as well :)
just an idea...

imported_dented dx 10-Apr-2002 01:00 AM

you can buy all kinds of different carpets ar roma or building box or home depo for a variety of costs. i was origionally going to cover my box in astro turf. cuz i was going to make a top ported box with a little pin coming oout the hole. but i came to my senses and decided blue.
as for custom trunk ideas, you should try out fiberglassing cuz the sky is the limits and you can get more cubic feet out of less area in a hatch back

imported_fine2ne 10-Apr-2002 01:18 PM

I JUST DID ONE

I just finnished doing my trunk with a fiberglass tub looks normal on top but the bottom is totally fiberglass way lighter than the MDF boxes i recommend doing it. If you want i could do it for you email me for more info. fine1ne@rogers.com
