Question code alarm vs clifford

Newbie here...

Anyway, I'm going to install a pager system, I'm thinking Code Alarm or Clifford or CompuStart?

Anyway, I want to hear some feedbacks, thanks!

in terms of alarms....

i dont know about clifford pagers....... but my buddy has a clifford with all the options you could get, and he loves it...

i got a compustar FM Pager Alarm/Starter, and im pretty happy with it....... ( they go for about $550 )

the ****** Spectrum Compustar is about $700 ish ( correct me if im wrong ) and the only difference is it has a bit better range, and the pager vibrates......
for what its worth, i would go for the FM....... the range is about 1/2 - 1 km depending on your surroundings..... ( buildings, trees, etc. ) but for the most part... you can park your car and wherever you may be ( mall, theater ) if someone ***** with your car it will let you know

check out http://www.compustar.org for more info on their alarms..... pm me if you want the name of a great dealer/installer

Sounds good, I'm basically down to CompuStar and Clifford, but I'm waiting for the installer to do my car, and the guy is so busy he hasn't had time to do my car yet... dam.. waiting for a month already

get the compustar.
Si Veloz ............powerlink..
Sorry Marty.....but IMO, that is just a poor imo of the compustar.

no

Clifford

Clifford and DEI (ie Viper,Python, Steal Stopper...and many others)

Are one in the same.

DEI owns Clifford.

Dei has a copy of the compustar, but it cost alot more.....a friend that didn't want to listen to me went and got the DEI 2 way pager/alarm instead.....he ended up paying around $800 for it. He got ripped off.

A compustar can be installed for $500.......you just have to know where to look.

the first gen meaning FM series

2nd gen meaning ****** Spectrum?

do you REALLY need the claimed range of 2 or 3 km's of the ****** spectrum?

are you really planning on leaving your car somewhere that you would be kinda sketchy about people ******* around with it.....and then going 2 or 3 km's away?

come on now...

the FM series in my opinion is really all you need

I dunno, but I think the range, something around 1km is cool with me. Think the old Compustar is like 0.5-1km?

Hey PULOVR do you think you could elaborate a little bit more about why code alarms are no good. I mean come on I’m seriously interested in getting an alarm and need to know details about which is a decent alarm and which is complete garbage. So just saying NO does not help at all.

Quality....That's all I have to say.

I've been doing installs on and off for freinds, for 17 years, (no old jokes), and over the years, the only alarms that have not fucked up were....... (they did on occation.....but not as frequantly)

DEI
Clifford
Avital...(Clifford)
VSE (really old school)

And now my favorite alarm/starter......COMPUSTAR.

They are also the only company in resent years to win the CES Inovations award....2 years running.

This is not an easy thing to do.

I used to have a VIPER 500+ on my old car, (for 8 years) never had a problem. I was a diehard DEI supporter...but then, when the COMPUSTAR came out.....

Just ask others that have the COMPUSTAR.

Alarms that don't get my approval......

First and formost......Any alarm that is a COMPUSTAR copy cat.
Also.....

Codealarm
Bulldog
Enforcecer
Radio Shack
UNGO (Clarion)
Prestige (Audiovox)
Alpine (don't like the new ones....old ones were better...IMO)
Crimestopper
Black Widow (DLC)
Delta
JTI
Carbine
Spal
K9
Seco-larm

And any no-name alarms.

Funny thing is......DEI makes some of these for other manufacturers.

I geuss they had to cut corners for those cheapskate companies.

I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A NON-PAGER ALARM.

It's nice to press a button on the remote and hear it beep....(meaning....the car is still where I left her).

You can't put a price on reasurance.
