Car audio problem!!

I hooked up an amp + sub to my stock deck today. I had to buy a converter that allowed me to use RCA jacks with my deck, and I followed the wiring to a tee when installing.

The problem is, I get no power to my sub.

The power light on the amp is on; the remote wire, ground wire, and power wire for the amp are all installed. The RCA's are pluged in to the input of the amp, and the speaker wire is connected from the appropriate + & - terminals on the amp to their respective spots on sub.

I purchased the amp off a friend and it's a few years old. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't sell me a broken amp, so I doubt thats the problem.

The sub is brand new, I just bought it last week.

As for the wiring kit, I just bought it today, and its top quality ****.

Can anyone diagnose the problem for me?

Two things jump to mind.

1. Were you playing around with the fader and left it all the way to the front?

2. High to low level converters usualy have a gain adjustment on the box. Are they all the way down or even your amps gain setting?

Do you have sound from the front speakers?
Can you feel any movment on the subs cone when the music is on?

If your amp power light comes on, than I would put a side a posibility that your amp is dead, for now. Hook up any other speaker to the amp an see if you get any sound. Make sure its at low volume.

Let us know how it works out.

1) My fader is not all the way at the front.

2) My converter does have a gain adjustment, so I can check that out.

3) I have sound from all speakers except the sub.

4) I think I can feel some mild movement from the sub when the music is on, but that may just be the vibration from my speakers.

Thanks for the comments starman.

first things id check:

your amp

grab a portable cd player or tape deck and grab a 3.5mm stereo cable to RCA cable and plug the end into your amp RCA inputs and see if you get any input, this will eliminate your amp being dead

if you get output you can work back from there, and check your LOC you have and see if it has a gain **** on it

what amp is it?

does it not have speaker level inputs onit? or just rca
