Blown AMP Fuse...Have a Question though. .

yes those are all great points youve listed there Yuli, for YOUR OWN USE, but on TCC we dont like to tell members NOT to use fuse, we rather tell them the safe way to do things so accidents dont happen.
What you do is fine but we will not endorse this type of things for members and people trying to learn what the safe and correct way to do things are.
thanks

I havnt seen anybody do this? If they do there risking the life of their amp by doing so, if amp shorts out either in circuit board inside, the desgined amperage fuse that was installed by factory was designed to allow just enough current to pass under ideal working conditions, so if you go and change that amperage then if a short did happen inside the amp the fuse would not catch it in time, and depending on how badly it is shorted it could heat up the wires hot enought o cause a fire.
In the end, leave the correct size fuse in

The reason spl competitors do it is to allow the amp to release its max potential without the output being restricted by fuses blowing b/c there is too much current going through the amp. It is normally done when an amp is ran below its recommended minimal impedence (if u run a 2 ohm amp at 0.5 ohm for example) and/or when the amps are on a 16volt battery system. one or the combination of both conditions will allow the amp to produce more power than it's ment/suppose/recommnded to.
but an average joe listener should never do that, it's very unsafe to replace the fuses with bigger than what the manufacturer recommends.

just for general knowledge. in cases like those where amps are used for competition purposes, the protection is also removed from the amp. basically the amp becomes uncontrolable in any way possible, and it can/will blow up in just a matter of time.
