You want it for when you back up the car?

If so all you need is a car alarm and build a circuit to play the tone. If not check out active surplus or AA electronics in Mississauga for that type of thing.

Damn! A Siren would be great!

I want a siren like they used to have on those old 80's shows, where they'd put the light on the top of the car and then chase the bad guy!

Damn I'm stuck in the 80's I think...

Well in theory its still a good idea. If you had a toggle switch you could turn it on when you park at night, so if someone where to steal the car, and reverse out of your driveway, you could hear your car being stolen and possibly get out and try and stop it.

I have a back up siren installed on my car. I was told by the installers that there is a battery in the back up siren that keeps it's charge from the car battery. If the main alarm is disabled then the back up alarm will go off until the battery is dead which usually takes about 5-6 hours. So it'll go off even if your car battery is disconnected. It's also well hidden so I don't think it's that easy to disarm a back up siren unless you can locate it and rip it out.

I had mine hooked up to a clifford system. The back up siren is from DEI as well but I don't know what model it is. I got it done all at once.

There was a case of this Prelude that had the batteries to the backup siren drilled into the rocker panel....two batteries actually. This guy wasn't fooking around... too bad his car still ended up at the insurance auction and my buddy bought it. Dunno if it was his fault or if the car was stolen.

You guys ever thought of installing a siren in the car too?

That goes off if they break in, a real ear piercing one, some thieves might not be able to take the sound and just run.

Inside sirens

Hey loudsubz, the piezo sirens are actually specifically designed for internal car use. I usually install them in a vehicles centre console or under the dash of the vehicle I am working on. They are a very inexpensive upgrade to make to any security system. I've got three installed inside my Protege5

hey i got a backup in my car to, cos 20 bucks, and it can't be turned off unless you have a key.

Their is a spot on it for a key, and you have to manually disarm it. Kind of the same as i-werks alarm, but with a key deactivation feature

Those deafener sirens sound like a good idea, but if I were to accidently turn on my alarm while inside the car then... ouch
