ArrrrgH!!!!! My window!!!
Problem 1:
So get this. Cold weather warning and guess what happens? My power window is messed up. I had my window down to pay the parking in a garage and when i leave the garage i discovered that my window wont roll back up! Ended up driving home last night for like 45 minutes with the window down! FOCK@!!!
anyways so I got home and forced the window up by hand.
My question now is what should i do/ need to do?
Its a power window.
I am pretty sure the motor is still working because i was able to force it down and then it can move up to the "middle" part on its own and then it gets stuck.
I am certain that the window seems "off track".
Is there a way that i can re-position it myself or should I just take it to my mechanic?
Problem 2:
So as if freezing my *** of wasnt bad enough, i was parking my car today and when i pulled on the hand break, i heard a "craCkl!""" and now the hand break can go up wayyyyy higher than it used to. Also, when i am driving and the hand break lever is pushed down, it rises up on its own (as if a spring is pushing it up) and i have to get something ( a weight) to hold it down!!!!!
What is going on? What should i do?

for the window thing, i dunno what to say try to push it up by hand at the same time use the button aswell, and just leave it until you can crack open ur door panel and work things out.
and sorry dont know what to do about the handbreak but im sure others will know.

yup, likely you snapped the e-brake cable. for your first problem, the motor could be dead or is on its way out. my window did that right before the motor died. it could be off the track, take off the door panel and have a look

yup, same as civicnation. could be off track but mine stopped going up in my teg but it would still go down. then it died altogether. same thing for passenger side but at least i could control with drivers side master control. my buddy soildered (sp)
something in the control switch board thing first time around but then i had to get new switch after couple weeks of that working. if it is on it's last legs, go to the wreckers for new switch and save some money. dealer hit me up for $158. stupidest thing i did for that car.

silly people, wind the window up half way and then look at the weather stripping, the window will be on the other side and the stripping by the side mirror will be blocking it from going up any further.
to put the window back on track you have to remove your door pannel and then take of the plastic **** to get to the window, then you have to take the window of the slider and then put it back on with both sides of the window inside the gutters.

I had this problem happen to mine frequently during the winters. Alway before an exam or trip of some sort (crappy luck).
The damn run channels get reallydry and causes the window to fall off the track and when u start to fiddle (trying to put it up and down), u are only making it worse and may end up having to buy as whole new run channel.
Take ur door panel off, take the screws holding the window in place off (located in the holes inside ur door), then lube the crap out of ur run channel and then re-installl the window. Do not screw in to tight or u will have a bigger problem.
Kinda hard to explain.
Good Luck.

my mechanic fixed it and put it back on track.
the motor was fine (whew!) and now things are back to normal. however, my mech warned me that this could happen again and is common for coupes. (arrrrgggH!!)
anyways thanks for the help guys

Having the same problem right now. My window can go down easily but it goes up very slowly. Recently if I put it all the way down It will get sttuck and I have to use my hands to help it up. What kind of lubricant should I use on the tracks? Can anyone give a better description of what to check for? Do I need to remove the window from the tracks to lube them?

when you say rubber stripping are you talking about the rubber on the outside of the car that rubs against the windows when it goes up and down that you can see without removing the door panel? I just found an older thread that gave some really good instructions so I'll be doing that later tonight.
