I would go bigger if I were you. You most def don't want to starve them. I like to give more then enough power with my setups. If you can afford it, spring for 1000w.

Hi,

We are a full Orion Dealer and we sell Orion Amps.

Which model subs do you have?

Amp suggestion for subs as well

Hey guys I just picked up

2 x 12" Infinity Reference subwoofers 300 Watts RMS each in a sealed enclosure. Each woofer is single 4 ohms.

I am a n00b to car audio so what should I be looking for to power these subs?

I was told to get a mono amp.

I would be looking at amps with a output of around 500wrms to 700wrms with an 2 ohm load (wiring your subs parallel).

So would something like this work?

Infinity 600 Watt Class D Subwoofer Amplifier (611A)
  • # Of Channels 1
  • 1 OHM Output Power - Full Range Not Applicable
  • 14.4V Dynamic Power At 2 Ohms 657 Watts
  • 2 OHM Output Power - Full Range 761 Watts
  • 4 OHM Output Power - Full Range 456 Watts
  • Bass Boost Yes
  • Bridgeable Yes
  • Bridged Power At 2 OHMS - Full Range 657 Watts
  • Bridged Power At 4 OHMS - Full Range 456 Watts
I just did a quick check on FutureShop to kind of get an idea of what you're referring to.

Or what about this other one

Pioneer 800W Class D Mono Amplifier (GM-D7400M)

The infinity is more bang for the buck and would be the better buy for those subs. I guess class D is where's it at for sub amps now.

Also another good amp would be an Audison. There's a guy over on www.Canadiancaraudio.com selling a LRx 400.1 It does 650w x 1 @ 2 ohms and around 900w @ 1 ohm (if you were planning on upgrading). $325 shipped and he's in the GTA

I hope your offer was around $300. IMO a very good amp and if you replaced your subs in a year or two then you'll have an extra 300wrms to play with from that amp.
