Alarm Install... Hard or Not So HarD??

Hey i have purhcased a Code Alarm, and before i attempt to install this into my EG civic, i m wondering is this a hard job?? i m electrically inclined, i know i will have to find a wiring diagram before i try this...

So i m just wondering any peoples experience installing alarms, or should i get a professional to install, and how much roughly to install an alarm...??

its pretty easy to do, shouldnt be that much to get it installed either, so i guess it depends on how much your time is worth. If this is your first time, it'lll prolly take u the whole day to do it.

its not that Hard, BUT....

alarm pros will do an amazing job 8/10 times. Why? Because most that are serious about security will hide the brain really well so it can't be ripped out, and will solder and wrap up all connections very well. They will also run all the wires cleanly, to trick a thief even more on which wire is what.

I once knew an installer that would take a few days to install alarms in cars, because he would take the whole dash out of the car and mount the brain up high on the firewall. He also hide the sirens in hard to reach places in the engine bar, and ran extra wires to trick a thief into which wire actually went to each piece.

oh i plan to pull out the dash to install the brain behind, as i will be dynomating the firewall, so that will not be a problem.... and as for soldering and wrapping wires, i was thought that should always be done, why do a half *** job when it takes like a few seconds more to do a proper job...

i will take all yours tips thou matt... so it is pretty foward i guess as for wiring

Just pray that the brain never fails, or else you will have to pull the dash back out. Alarms are great especially 2 way but even the best installed alarms with kill start can still be fairly easily bypassed by any good thief. The best thing to do IMO is to have a quality alarm system but also have 1 or 2 stand alone fuel cut and starter kill switches that are very well concealed. The beauty of a switch or button is that they are small and easy to conceal nearly anywhere in the car and they can be wired in such a way that you cannot tell where they have been spliced into the factory wiring. I have an alarm with starter kill and a stand alone fuel cut switch in my hatchback and normally I just use the alarm but when im at a shopping mall, the movies, or an area im unfamilar with I flip the fuel cut just for that added security measure.
