92-95 Civic Sedan Speaker Question
Anyone of you knows the specs for the speakers in a stock EG civic sedan? whats the spec? Who made it? how much is it?
I did a little search this morning and found out that the door speakers are 6-1/2" and the back are either 6x9 or 5-1/2 little bit confuse about that. I didnt see how much watt it can handle and the maker.
edit: btw if I have a 200 watt deck and put a pair of 150 watt speakers in the door and another pair of 100 watt at the back, will it work? or how about a 200 watt deck and lets say 10-20 watt speakers for all 4 of them will it work? what's the rule about watt in the deck and speaker?

first off the backs are 6.5"
the OEM speakers are maybe 20 watts rms, not much at all.
second your deck is not 200 watts, its maybe 20 watts RMS X 4 at best
you can run OEM off that np just listen for distortion
the rule is match your rms on the amp/deck to the rms on the speaker
so if you have 4 speakers with 25 watt rms each, then you need a amp that does 100 watt rms total or 25 X 4 rms
the OEM speakers are maybe 20 watts rms, not much at all.

they make decks which are 200 watts, but its MAX, not RMS
its so hard to go by max because you have to read the fine print as to what circumstances and conditions you will be getting that max power at
RMS is the same throughought as an industry average, its the real power your speakers will be seeing
you can run your speakers off the deck no problem, just make sure there matched accroding to how mcuh power your deck puts out

IC thanks
Which one's do you recommend, if I cant match the power accordingly?
in watts
deck watts > speaker watts
or
deck watts < speaker watts
Im assuming deck watts < speaker watts is ok since the my deck is 20 watts * 4 and the stock speakers are 25 watts each * 4
or the first one is better?
Thanks again.
edit: Im just guessing here but watts max which is the peak is equal to 1.44 rms right?
so 200 watts/1.44 or (root 2)?? or am I wrong? sorry about that.

in general there is formulas to find rms, but rms is usually a little less than half of max
you can find the rms values listed in your specs for your deck since each manufacturer rates there rms differently
power output should be matched to speaker power handling, but more power is better than less power going to a speaker as long as the signal is not clipped and you dont drive feed to much power to it, but a little more than reccomended is fine just be smart about it

Hey loudsubz I just want to replace the back speakers. I just want to fix the noise *speakers busted*. The paper cone's ripped.
All I can see from ebay are those 150-180 watts speakers, others has those 75 watts rms, I just want a decent sound. Are they OK to use?
thanks

I just want a regular speaker, I just wanted a stock ones but cant find any. So I decided to search at ebay.ca and found some 150-180 watt speakers, *there are some 75-100 watts too*. So do you think a 150-180 watts speaker are OK with a lets say stock deck 20 x 4 watts rms?
