6x9's with lots of base?
I'm looking for 6x9's to replace my shot factory ones. Trick here is I want ones with lots of bass (good for hip hop and electronic, etc) because I don't want the hassle of running subs. Subs are not an option because of weight, hassle of installs, and it's more reason to have my car broken into.
Not looking for showstoping sound or anything, just some nice clear 6x9's that have a lot of good base. Any suggestions?

clear and 6X9 dont go in the same sentence
as for bass, there alright but ive never liked 6X9 youd prolly be better off mounting from free air 8's under your rear deck but thats some extra work
so id at least say go for some kicker 6X9, they make some midbass esc for that

6 x 9's can be clear but they just arent the same as a component set for mids and highs and not the same as a sub for lows.

I already know that, but you guys keep forgetting what Promoking asked for.
As for bass......no, a 6x9 can't complare to the output of a 10 or 12, but if they are put into an enclosure (instead of freeair), they can have some half decent bottom end to them.

exactly pulovr. Get those speakers into an enclosure and the base will improve. If they will fit you could try the JL 6.5" sub. You won't hit 20hz, but it will be better than a 6x9.
There is nothing wrong with running a sub if you plan it out correctly. The only hassle is the hassle and cost, but that is the cost of getting bass. I wanted bass without losing my trunk - that was a big hassle, but well worth it. You have to decide how much you want bass and what you are willing to compromise.

hmmm this is an interesting thread... ghetto sub ... take 1 6X9 speaker .... in a standard speaker box for it ... then place a 18" by 18" by 18" box over it with handles cut out on 2 sides near the top .... and you have Gatherer's Ghetto Sub.... I used to do this in highschool.... when I worked Back Stage for THeatre productions ... Damn budget cut backs .... then again I was only doing it for something to do when I was board and experimenting with sound.
and Scarlemthug seems to have been owned ... not once but twice in this thread ...but thats besides the point

Yeah it's a daily driver. I'm not really into systems either. No amp, a very modest deck (Alpine KDC 270 is what I think I picked up a while ago, still not installed). Getting the Infinity 3.5's to replace the stock dead garbage in the fronts, and yes I just want an exact replacement size speaker. I just want a decent amount of base thats pretty clear, unlike the crap that's in there now.
I was looking on sounddomain.com and the Pioneer REV TS-D690R, and Pioneer TS-A6960R speakers both got good reviews for the amount of bass these things had and how hard they kicked. Anyone have comments on these speakers?
Or should I just the Infinity 6x9's to match the 3.5's in the front?
