2002 Civic DX CD Player

okay, heres the deal

my bro got a 2002 civic dx headunit from his friend (his friend swapped his for a better panasonic aftermarket hu)

my bro is buying a new deck, amp, subs and speakers come next week, so im gettin his old deck.

i dont have speakers in my 92 si, but i was gonna put in some 5 1/4 alpine components in the front (forget the rear for the time being) so i could pump out sound from the hu.

im wondering if the 2002 dx hu will be able to power them, im not sure what the power req. is on this alpine comps.. ill post them when i do my research.

www.alpine1.com says the 6.5 component woofer is 70mm in depth

rms power for the 6.5 are 50w
and 45w for the 5.1/4

how much power does the deck have? 80w or something?

Will it work? .... yes
Will it sound good...... not likely.

The head units dont put out much power at all, lucky if its 10 watt rms, barely enough for components.

will it do damage or anything bad to the components?
cause id only ride with the deck for like maybe 4 - 6 weeks before replacing it with an after market one

No damage unless you drive the deck to clip, and the speakers distory, heat up and you might damage them then.

Just use common sense when you are playing them, if they sound stressed turn it down

IMO< get a cheaper deckw ith preouts, and run an amp to the components, they will sound wayyy better than off any deck.

you can't damage them by sending less power out..... but personally even if i buy them earlier i wouldn't put them in until i got the new HU....
