zc or b16
what swap is better for a 89 civic, a dohc zc or a b16.
|
Depends on what your plans are for the car and how much you are willing to spend, both are good motors.
|
keep your sohc if you are thinking of going dohc zc it has better support then the zc.
|
so if i wanted to spend the extra money for a b16 would it be worth the money over the dohc zc.

Oh god yes. There is no comparison speed wise. As long as the B16 is going into a hatch you can buck any stock NA 4cyl out there. Think about it. You'll be faster than any RSX,Integra, Prelude,SE-R. You'll even be able to hang with GTP's,Some Beemer's and Benz's, Audi's,VW 1.8t's and VR6's almost EVERYTHING. and even some plain assed 5.0litre's.You'll be faster than 80% of the car's on the road.
The only thing's faster are $40,000+ luxury car's,Done up V8's and the CobaltSS and SRT-4 which are both around $30,000. Join the Club and get some real speed. Spend the extra money, If you love driving you won't regret it. With a ZC you won't be any faster than plain integra's and other car's with bolt on's. |

MY Buddy put a ZC in his 92 EG hatch and has a hard time finding aftermarket parts for it because it doesnt fall into the b or d class engine and he really wishs he would have gotten the b16 for sure. and my other friend blew his d16 with a turbo cause he didnt know what the hell he was doin and bought the b16 and says he can play with corvettes but I dunno about that
|
ZC's are obsolete, very hard to find one in good shape.
|
Stock B16 in a hatch? Must be a slow vette..haha
|
any B-series owns any D-series....stock for stock....any day.
If you really wanna play with the big boys put in a gsr or itr. b18c5 with bolt ons will be more than sufficient for an EF. |

Or go turbo zc
pm 89SIHATCH? he know D-Series Turbo guys like 2 or 3 |
retarded kids think a pathetic b16 swap will do anything.. Yeah, maybe you'll be able to keep up to a v6 camry (MAYBE). Don't even bother with the v6 altimas, cuz they'll put buslengths on you..

im bulding a b16a EF cuz i know how much potential this car has! thats why im doing this swap my coupe is slow i used to be fast now i want to be fast again and i know im in a step in the right direction

personally i wouldnt fvck with the ZC its to old and just for the money b16 is the way to go .. BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK |
personally i would say a very simple, mild compression b20vtec setup in an EF owns...all oe parts for reliability.
Simple swap too b/c you can use a 1st gen b16 head which is obd-0 and a chipped pr3 ecu, b16 cable tranny and maybe some ITR cams. My buddy had the same b20vtec setup in his EF, unfortunately he spun a rod bearing and just put a b16 back in, car seems sooo slow now though w/just a b16....not hating on b16s b/c i have one in my car....just saying with how much torque the b20 has it moves those light hatches real good, even if it was just a b20 w/b16 tranny, which would be a little more work b/c b20's are obd-2 and EF's are obd-0, thats what's so nice about the b20vtec in EF's....simple, but fast. |

BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK Oh and btw no stock b16 ef is going to be keeping up with any modern corvette any day, a stock C5 runs I believe somewhere in the mid 13's and the C6 is even faster stock. |

Also B18A1's can be had for nothing because they came in like 85 percent of integra's. Also the stock internals of the B18A1 will handle a ton of power should you go that route. Dont get my wrong a b16 is still a great motor but certianly not as good as everyone hypes it up to be, id put my non V-TEC B18 EF hatch up against any B16A1 EF any day. I also like the b16 tranny b20 (no vtec) setup. nice stoplight to stoplight car as well as circuit racer I really dont know about this statement! "You'll be faster than any RSX,Integra, Prelude,SE-R. Are you talkin off the line? quarter mile? b16 in an ef vs lets say.... a Type R or GSR for that matter? stock? Id like to see either dynos, video timeslips to back that statement up. |
